Default Missing "skid" panel beneath engine compartment

I got my very first oil change at 7000km, half a year after buying a brand new Fit. The guys and Pennzoil asked where the "skid" bottom panel of the engine compartment was.

Is it normal for 2013 Fits in Canada to be missing this plate? Why would a brand new Fit be missing this?

Your Pennzoil people are wrong. There is no "skid" bottom panel on GD or GE Fits. Some people buy plastic panels that are made for other Honda vehicles and fasten them under the engine bay to supposedly aid in aerodynamics and fuel economy, but your Fit was not made with such a panel. Nothing is "missing", but feel free to buy and install the piece of plastic that other Fit owners have installed if it makes you feel better. The car won't care.

AH GD's most definitely have plastic covers below the engine. The op's GE does not have one.

Only off-road trucks and SUV's have skid pads to protect front differentials and transmissions from damaging impact with boulders. No Fit sold in NA has a stock skid pad. A plastic lip extension from the underside of the bumper is NOT a skid pad, even on a GD. A little narrow sheet of plastic provides zero protection to anything at all in the engine bay and drive train. The "skid panel" term from the oil change people in the OP has zero meaning for any Fit model.

Thank you all for clarifying. I'm not going to bother getting my own skid pad.

Just because the OP doesn't know the proper wording you should have been smart enough to figure out what he was referring to.

"skid" bottom panel of the engine compartment was." But then again..........

Here is what I wrote "AH GD's most definitely have plastic covers below the engine" no mention of skid pad but then again you may been referring incorrectly to a skid pan.
