Suspencion Noise
Hello! My 01 "V" automatic is having a kind of "Tuc tuc tuc tuc" every time a hit a little bump or if the road is just not perfectly equal, it will sound like "tuc tuc tuc" and I feel the noise in the front. I thought the noise was from the front shock absorbers so I replaced them with Monroe units but the noise still the same.
What could it be? Top hat? Sway bar bushings?
This noise it's driving me crazy!
Thanks!

Re: Suspencion Sounds
my car does the same thing and it drives me crazy its like a hard thump over every bump
i was going to change the struts but if your having the same problem i might not need too
i would try checking the sway bar bushings because mine sounds like its coming right under the seats and thats where theyre located

Sounds like sway bar end links (or stabilizer links... same thing). Easy replace, if you dont have rust issues. Prolly will fix the clunk. I had same sound, fixed mine.

Re: Suspencion Sounds
Thanks guys. Looking forward to change these. I've read for a while online and found that it might be the ball joints.. but I'm not sure. Gotta try first the sway bar links.

Re: Suspencion Sounds
Definitely check out the front swaybar stuff....I hope you find out what the cause is, because I bet a lot of us have the same noise, haha.
Just some other thoughts, I have a similar noise that almost sounds like it could be the exhaust tapping on something over bumps, but I haven't found a spot on the exhaust that gets close to the chassis. I also looked at the rear trailing arm bushings and they were shot, so it could be that.

Re: Suspencion Sounds
Well after almost a month, the noise It's OVER!!! Thank God!
I replaced the sway bar bushings and the end links. A total of $70 at my local shop. I didn't went around comparing prices. And that was it! I replaced them and the nasty sound went away!
Thanks everyone for their help. I'm really happy with my V after all this.
Next step, change the timing belt.

Re: Suspencion Sounds
Awesome! Exactly the information I was searching for!
I recently purchased a 98 CRV EX for my son. It makes the same noises over bumps. I was thinking end links were the problem. Seems I was right.
Even better knowing there not as expensive as I thought they'd be.
Thanks HT!!

Re: Suspencion Sounds
About 215000miles, the balljoints have been bad for like the last 5,000mi and the drivers side end link broken right after i put in a new tranny 3,000mi ago.
The suspension has stood up to alot but most of the miles on my CR-V are highway. I need to replace bushings in the rear bc I heard some squeaking coming from the rear today in the drive thru.
