I have searched. Since the engine doesn't recognize "zc" because its too short...makes it pretty useless.


Looking for the ZC part equivalent of the timing belt tensioner. a6, a1...prelude?
I've looked at several ZC parts interchange lists and I can't find the actual tensioner. Timing belt, sure...but no tensioner p/n.

I bought the 88 Prelude 2.0 Si timing belt kit when I did my swap and the tensioner that came in the kit would NOT work, the belt fit though. The motor I got looked liked the timing belt and tensioner was fairly new so I ended up using the one that came on it.

Sorry that doesn't tell you which one, but it eliminates the prelude one from your list.

Yes, that does help....thanks. Now to figure out if its an a1 or a6 part.

Well, we've got plenty of A6's lying around... So it should be pretty easy to figure out if those match what's on your ZC. In fact, I just got a brand new tensioner (and t-belt and H20 pump) today! So we can compare them side-by-side to what you've got and see where that gets us.

If that don't work, we'll have to hit a junkyard and pull an A1 tensioner to look at, or order one. Not cheap, though.

I think I used an A6 tensioner when I did that swap a few years back.

D16A6 tensioner is the correct one for the DOHC ZC
