weird problem in my hatch
Ok so since ive owned my b16 motor in my crx(thought it was a ground) its had a bad iacv. Now my question is will having the check engine light bieng on because of the iacv bieng bad cause my car not to do the real redline on a stock jdm pr3 which is 8200. Now i have it in my hatch, and i still have not changed it and now im thinking thats what it could be, but every once in a while it will hit the real redline. Also i have no tack so i really dont know. So say im doing like 25 or so and nail it my vtec comes in at 5200 and then i shift by time im going 40 mph bc it bounces. Please help this is annoying the **** out of me, thanx in advance
p.s some pics of my hatch.

Mugen stickers make up for no tach

lol i know they are gay but i didnt put them on.
yes its only throwing a code 14, unless it sounds like something else to you
I know what rpms because when i had it in my rex i had a tack and the redline was only around 7200 and then a couple times it would actually hit 8200+. I thought it was a ground wire but it does it in the hatch, unless i think its doing it in the hatch and not...but does this sound right
1st gear about 42mph
2nd gear about 70mph
3rd gear about 98 and have not gone past that no need to.
I have a b16 motor with an ls tranny and the jdm pr3.
Thanks

Re: weird problem in my hatch (cars101)
check engine light needs to be off for the motor to behave 'normally.' if cleaning the IACV doesn't help, it's possible it wasn't wired up correctly. check your wires for that circuit, the kid i got my car from had mixed things up royally.
worse case, you need an IACV...if you're running around at high rpm on a regular basis, you may be doing some harm. at the very least, the engine is not working to it's potential. fix it, and the car will thank you

Driving around and beating the absolute **** out of your rev limiter is most
deffinately not the way to diagnose problems.....

Yea thats not what i do, everyone once in while i like to hit vtec and bring my r's up. Whats wrong with that isnt that the point of building a car so you can have fun i didnt build not to hit high r's. I rarely do it bc of this problem, if it all. I know what you mean though

Ok well my car is obdo would you happen to know what wires it would be bc the car was converted to mpfi and right now the wires i have attached to it are red/white and green/white, the only other plug is black and yellow i think.
I mean if i have to get the IACV no biggie they are not hard to change i would rather get the problem solved because it just makes me mad that my car is not running at full 100%. Thank you for a real answer, and im not running around at hight rpm on daily believe me only once in a while because sometimes it may work or somebody talks junk but i try to ignore lol

I think im going to try my friends pr3 after i fix the iacv and yea its clean. Also i dont think mine is chipped bc vtec hits around 5200 so but i swore my redline use to go past 8200 but hey not going to know until i fix the problems and getting running perfect thank you
