I've had my EF up to 115.. speed kill hits with my b16.. in my GSR 4 door when it was running I could cruise down the highway at 135-145 like nothing so smooth... flying past cars.. I only hit the plate system once going that fast and I'm not sure how fast I got going but I know it was crazy... only held the button down like 4 seconds and got to scared..

The stock D16a6 in a CRX Si tops out around 124 or so.... I doubt anyone here has gone 124+ with their stock engine...
remember, at high speeds, the stock speedo is NOT accurate at all.... Also, I've read that the CRX Si tops out @ 124mph..... no higher. Sure, you may have buried the speedo, but chances are, you werent going faster. The amount of power it takes to pull a CRX over 125+ is much more than 108... a B16a (mostly stock) equipped CRX is only capable of mid-130s, TOPS... and thats if it has the gearing to do it....

my eg vti has shown 151 mph at 8100 ish rpm in fifth and my ef has shown 125mph but was still going. neither of these felt unsafe and doubt they would unless the bends were too tight or if i came across some traffic.

130+ ZC
i do around 90 mph in the 1/4 easy.....we have a perfectly flat streatch of freeway that is never crowded and its almost impossible for cops to patrol and hide cause is 80% bridges....but anyways i have a 88 civic hatch, full interior, all the bolt ons....now my suspension is super tight so there is no float at high speed. I have enough invested in shocks, springs and stabalizers that it feels smoother for some reason at higher mph, but usually when i get out there since its flat i can get up and over 100 easy...my friend had a speedmeter...and we used it and it posted 133mph one day we were out there, now i usually top out the speedo but it freakin sucks that we cant upgrade our EF gauges so they can read higher....i wanna try for 140.......my car only runs high 14 sec quarters, but with a nice suspension and tires and a lsd.....this **** is fun to drive....anyone that hasnt built there suspension. try that then get ou there

I have a ticket <read Misdemeanor Cite> that says that I was in my Civic running at an undetermined speed and the cop was running 125 and was not gaining
That was stock with 16" wheels.
Now with the B16a, Naturally aspirated with the windows up and the ITR parts, my car was clocked by a cop friend at 142.
With the turbo, built B16a, and a 90 model LS tranny, I hope to build my car to run 180 MPH... I want a highway Vette killer

Topspeed of stock EDM CRX SiR : 222kmh = 137.94mph (222/ 1609.34*1000)
Ok I'm 1 mph off and we DO NOT have bullshit limiters and yes topspeed is due to the fact that rev limiter ends the fun.....

my crx b16 only hits 115 because of the rev limiter... that sux... cuz it pulls hard all the way till 115... then the fuel cuts... DARN!!! but yea... at those speeds, the rex is a little shaky... i race a newer model TT supra once on the highway... He was doing maybe 125-30, i was doing 110-115, a small turn in the highway got scary for me.... so i slowed down... but a rex hitting 180 with those mods... hmm... maybe hard... careful...

technically i did when i hit the 115 but i had my 4 speed in last time i was on the highway so lower top speed but i hit the D16A6 rev limiter with my D15B1 with the MPFI so i guess so now i have the 5 speed in and its alot better i want to get it on the highway today

My car's a Hatch.... Longer wheelbase... Better for control... But still... VERY scarey. I'm glad I have a friend who works at a shop and we can tune my alignment/suspension to be dead on perfect!

Ok first off, the BULL **** comment was directed towards ben_VTEC...

Secondly, you can't apply theoretical gear ratios to find out real world top speed, because you STIL have to account for aerodynamic efficiciency/coefficient of drag, and the wind resistance. Ontop of that, rolling resistance...
Those gear ratio = top speed things are only reliable calcs in a wind tunnel with 0 resistance...
I'm not trying to start ****, but you have to realize, the CRX is limited to around 135-140mph due to its aerodynamis charactersistics.
Radar is not 100% accurate, as well as your speedo. Neither is the stock tach...
And aftermarket digital tach would be the only way to find out your true speed, as you'd use THAT and your gear ratios to determine how fast you really are going. Hell, I've pinned my speedo before as well, but I am willing to bet it was relatively 119mph or so...
And to SiR kid.... sorry, but you'll never get a 180mph CRX. The power required to do such a thing, as well as the downforce required to keep it from flipping would be too hard to do....

And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the 1600cc landspeedrecord set at 148 mph by a 1992 CRX SiR with mostly aerodynamic modifications???????

and to back up my buddy phatty a cops radar is only calibrated to like 120 thats y it was undetermined the radar gets confused and says uhhhhhhhhh so like phatty said no way 150 that is BS

Top/fastest speed in a 87 CRX Si with only a header -- 124 MPH!
It was down hill, 6000 rpm in 5th.
The speedo was pegged (@ 120), and I did about another 5-600 rpm after that.
Passed an RS Camaro that was frekin out, beeping and flashing his lights!
Good think I'd also done some suspension work on it, ... forgot about that little kink!

I must agree that there is a LOT of bullshit on the 'net. People think they have a license to just talk **** and lie constantly (not picking on any one person here) because they'll never see most of the people they're lying to.
The fastest I ever had my SPEEDO to on my old SOHC VTEC motor in my 1992 Si Hatch was right over 130mph. I was hitting the rev limiter in FOURTH gear, and shifting into 5th went NOWHERE. Too much drag I suppose.
The speedo goes to 120, but has tha add'l ticks to 130. The speedo was touching just past the 130 mark - I have no idea how fast the CAR was really going - just the INDICATED speed of 130+mph.
With my ITR swap I had completely buried the speedo. I have NO clue how fast I was going. It had to be over 130, because I was WAY past that130 mark. I don't care how much speedo error my car might have had - I was past the point of error here.
Not that top speed even really matters anyways...it's how quick you get there.

Uh, wanna see the Citation? I'll have it scanned! I ran 16.1 in that car BONE stock. I can scan the timeslip too if you don't beleive me. All I did was remove the intake pipe from the resonator box.
A 16.1 car should be able to go 120ish MPH.
