Default surging idle question i have searched

just did a mpfi swap on my buddies dx sedan. used an older 88 or 89 manifold with that extra sensor that i cant think of the name because we worked on it all day and im burnt. theres also no dash pot(i think thats what its called) and the vacuum line for that is pluged with no leaks. i couldnt find any vacuum leaks at all. so i decided to bleed the coolant more and clean the eacv with carb cleaner. so that seemed to have worked and its not surging if it is its very minor. the one thing that botters me though is the vacuum nipple on the manifold in the middle for the egr i think collapses when the car is running. put the egr on from my car and it does the same thing. what could be causing this? and could this cause a surging idle? its also not very fast, probably as fast as the dpfi and the intake sounds pretty loud. im guessing this is just a timing thing and hes gonna get it timed professionally. could the timing cause a surging idle liek this aswell?

does the surging idle kinda sound like a v8 with a huge cam, if so it might be the iacv(idle air control valve) its on the back of the manifold i know on my b16 its right beside the tps but i never had a mpfi, went straight from dpfi to b16, oh and i dont think you should have a egr on that car although i could be wrong

can you point out to me where exactally i said it was supposed to be a race car. compared to my car which is the same car(91 4 door dx) its slow and his engine is healthier than mine.
