Default Std Tran to 88 si Tran?

My tranny is going and I have a chance to get a 88 si tranny no grinds..The guy says I will need 88 axles..Does anybody no what exactly is needed to complete this swap...Thanks!

u wont need axles....ull need to get a 88 clutch disc flywheel and pressure plate.....unless theres a way to get the 21 spline disc in the 90-91 size

you can use your 90-91 flywheel and pressure plate (212mm) instead of the 88 one (200mm) if you get an 88 accord clutch disk. everything else will bolt right up.

BTW.. VERY worthwhile swap!! I noticed a much bigger performance gain going from the 4 spd std tranny to the Si 5-spd than I did going from the D15B1 to the D16A6! It was as drastic as when I did the MPFI swap.

Also, I hope the guy your dealing with is trustable, the first 88 "si" tranny I bought turned out to be a DX, there's no way to tell for sure from the outside like there is on the 89-91's. I didn't find out until I split the case to rebuild it. He also had me convinced that it was a '91 because I didn't know any better at the time to count the # of splines on the input shaft. as JDMB16AHatch pointed out above: 21 splines = 88, 20 splines = 89-91
