Well putting my car back together and i can't figure out why the dame check engine light comes on ( not running) when i turn the headlights on. Bu ti have a plug that's not hooked up under the dash. It's a small 4 wire plug, wire colors are: red, red/black, black, white/green. For the love of god someone tell me where it goes it's driving me insane, i hope that fixes the damn problem too.

 

Under what part of the dash? What is it by?

 

On the driver's side, not sure if it's connected to a relay or not. I checked continuity between the small plug and the 2 large plugs on the back of the cluster and quite a few match, maybe that will help narrow it down.

 

what car is this and where exatly does the plug seem to go? or can u see about where the wires come from?

 

Do your dash lights work? Might be the plug for the dimmer.

 

ok i figured out where the plug goes, it's the cig lighter plug, but it still didn't fox the problem. It's DIVING ME ****** CRAZY. No point in moving on until i get this stupid ****** thing fixed. For the guy who asked earlier it's a 91 DX, god damn check engine light comes on when the headlights are turned on. And this is no key in the ignition, no running motor. I'm thinkin it's got to be a ground problem but everything i see is grounded. The engine harness is grounded to the block, the blocks grounded to the chassis, what in the dash area should i be looking for to be grounded, other that the radio ground, that's grounded too. OMFG i hate cars sometimes
