Grog, thanks for your comtinued support and concern........just to add more, the horn now works, the "electric L-shaped switch" is not rusty (that's the first thing I checked)......The driver's door is the one that works good. That one seems to droop down a little upon opening, and maybe that's why it stays closed.I may look into adjusting the hinges to improve latching action.......The two rubber things are there, but I will double check all......thanks again

I'm reviving this thread for future searchers because I have solved this problem on my own 1990 Si. The problem is that the door latch (on the door) has a small harness connected to it that senses if the door is open or closed. You can see this if you open the door panel up and peek down inside towards the door latch- a couple wires run to the lower of the 3 bolts securing the latch to the door. A quick workaround is to simply unplug the connector. Note: you need to pull back the plastic sheet under the door panel to see the connector. This will cause the seatbelt and warning light to always think the door is closed and allow your seatbelt to operate normally (if your belt still works in the first place).
