Re: seat belt problem (CRX-ZC)
Mine only lock under heavy deceleration. I actually thought they were broken when I first bought the car. Found out they worked fine once I upgraded the brakes

Re: seat belt problem (CRX-ZC)
It takes some serious stopping to lock the belts. I can pull on it as hard and fast as possible, and it still won't lock. But every once in a while when I'm on the brakes, they'll lock.
I was heading into turn one at VIR and my friend was holding the camera. His belt wasn't buckled all the way and came out. That was one of the rare times the retractor locked, I was just laughing as he struggled with it until after turn 6a.

it should not lock by just pulling on it hard or slow. The retractor has a little pendulum that moves when you slam on the brakes hard and triggers the belt to lock.

I'm with drdisco on this one. It takes some force to get our belts to lock. As the fine Dr stated at VIR his locked on his buddy. I never had mine lock until I came into turn 12a at Road Atlanta that is the first time I ever noticed the seat belts lock.

But note that in almost every other car, you can get the retractor to lock simply by jerking on the belt, with the car parked. You are correct on the pendulum, but most other cars are more sensitive to belt acceleration.
Off topic: Todd, I see you're "near charlotte", whereabouts are you?

I think we're trying to determine if there is even a problem with the seat belts to fix. I think what he is describing is normal for the CRXs.
