Racing seat sitting too high for roll bar
I have a 91 crx, I'm installing a roll bar and I noticed that when I'm in my seat I sit too high. The NHRA rules says that the main hoop can't be less than 3 inches above my head with helmet, I'm more like 2.5 inches (that is without a helmet so probably 2 inches or 1.5 inches) so something has to change. I really like my seats I have now and don't want to swap them out. I was thinking I could cut out the sections on the floor and weld or bolt a 1/4" plate on each side to the floor and bolt the seat to that. This way I would be at about 5 inches below the top of the main hoop and be good. Does this sound like a good idea?

Yes, I was talking about the parts that go up and the seat sits on top of it, so it's like 1.5" off the floor. I can't really mount it on the floor with them still there because then I can move it back and forth a it really just wouldn't fit well.
