Default Question on tachometer...

Well I have a VTEC Controller, Autometer Tach and stock tach. My stock tach is accurate. The Fields and Autometer are off. What can be causing this to occur? THere way behind. I dont care about the autometer tach, i will sell it if needed, but the VTEC controller is hard to tune when its not able to set at the right rpms. The VTEC controller and the Tach are the same, the stock is right. Any idea? Tach doesnt JUMP.

on some tachs there are two wires in the back of the tach. they go out of the tach back into the tach. i have an autometer and with mine i had to cut those wires to set the tach to work with a four cylinder. cut on wire at a time and see which one will make you tach accurate with your factory tach.

Let me guess though. The autometer and VAFC both read the same and the stock is way ahead........Honda tachs are always off. I dont even have one. I only use my autometer cann't beat the best, tired and true. The V-AFC is off a little at lower RPMs but no more the 100.

well the autometer and the afc are the same, correct, but i mean i know for sure that there not 2000 rpm difference for the stock tach and the autometer, and the motor is like at rev limiter way early, i am lost man. i mean i dont care i just need one tach, but like i said the vtec controller is hard to use with the difference in rpms...

When are you rev limiting with stock and just say autometer, what ECU do you have?? Where did you take the tach signal wire from?? Well start there then go forward. 2k difference is alot need to see why there is that much of a difference. Your Autometer will be your best bet. Its the most acurate and easiest to read. V-AFC if that's what you have suck to read. I thought I would like mine and remove my big autometer but never have and never will

I dont want the vafc to remove the big tach, but its just that its way off. And you cant set vtec at a desired rpm when the vafc is off every time. I have the vtec hooked to b15 at the ecu, and the tach to the coil.. I am gonna play aroudn with it today to see what i get.

pull the tach off and wire the VAFC to the blue wire at the dist. i think you just have too much loading on the dist. wire since its only rated for the loading of stock tach.

You think that will make a difference? I mean I see how it could, but.. What if I got a STD cluster, wiht no tach, you think then the autometer and vtec would be good, cause tehn it would power just 2 tachs?

i'm kind of going on a hunch here, plus you have the vafc hooked up a diff point from the other 2 tachs, so the loading is weird. just unhook the autometer tach and hook up the vafc in its place. see what the results are first, then go from there.

also can take both AFC and Tach off your same wire for your stock tach. Thats what I've always done. Its a pin B15 or B17 either one will work http://www.geocities.com/bing_bong916/vtec_cont3.html

what was 1000rpm behind the stock tach with the autometer disconnected? the vafc? if so did you change the connection point to the distributor?

my sfc was 1000 or more behind teh stock tach. then when i hook the autometer back up, its still the same, no matter what i do. Can it be the ignitor, i am gonna change it today to see.

Okay.. My autometer tach and vtec controller are always faster at first. Then the stock one comes back and passes it at 5000 rpm, and i got a picture of it on the digital cam i will post later. The autometer tacha nd vtec is at 5000 and the stock one is at 5500 rpm... Is there anyway I can fix this? I changed ignitors, same thing.
