Default Project: Get her up and running.

Whats up HT. I've recently purchased my first ever ED4 1990 Honda Civic sedan! I purchased the rolling shell for $300. It needs some fixing up, so that's what Ill be trying to do. The motor and transmission was sold before picking the EF up. I will be swapping an D16z6 motor into it whenever I can get my hands on one. Im not trying to go fast. Im just building the car for a reliable daily driver since i already have a 00 civic with a gsr swap.

Here are some pictures of my 2nd love.

Pictures are from when I picked it up and the rest are when i got it to my place.
The wheels are my old Axis oldskool OGs. They came off my 2000 civic coupe.
Ebay steering wheel. I picked up a 84 civic wagon steering wheel so i will be putting that to replace the Ebay one.

Yes I know it looks like a paint bomb went off in the motor bay. I might paint it some day.

The last 2 pictures are of when I washed the car.

UPDATE: PROJECT BERNIE

So its been a few days since i started this thread. I decided to end up calling my ED4 Bernie. I think the name fits the car perfectly. Bernie sounds like an old school name. But anyway here are some updated pictures from this morning. I took the dash out and tried to vacuum out all the sand and junk from the floor.

Ordered rebuild kit for the D16z6 yesterday and should be here 5/11/15.
My OCD kicked in today and I started to clean the interior areas.
Don't mind the sound deadening.

So I went to the junk yard again today and picked up fenders and another front bumper. I might just keep the one I have. But we will see.
Passenger side sound deadening came off when I put my foot in the car today. Will be replacing.

Looking good keep up the good work. make sure you hone out the cylinders before you put it back together.

welp if you lost your job

then this is your job

until you find another one..

do everything you can to get it back together... on the road.. and if necessary saleable.

If you need help on bodywork i use to do that for a living
if you need paint i suggest Automotive Paint, Car Paint, Auto Paint - PaintForCars.com
they have different price ranges of paint
and get a $16 Harbor Freight Tools HVLP Gun and you're set

this is the time to make the most of it but don't screw around with stupid stuff.. just do stuff that needs to be done and do it the right and cheapest way...

whatever you take off of it .. ebay it..

tell you what on a budget I wouldnt have even replaced those fenders.. the metal is so thin you can practically straighten them with your bare hands.

so stop screwing around ... you have some 14 hr days getting this car back on the road for the next couple weeks...

or you could hang out and drink and watch tv and ... get to work.

well i think you get my point

you can look back in a year and say i really should have put that time
into the car because you had the time
and every day that goes by is a day closer to having it done
and then you're not wasting all your spare time later

I don't know your living situation.. if you're on your own
and your paycheck is required...

but i'll tell you if I had my late teens / early 20s to live over again
I would have picked up a car once every 2 weeks
pressure washed the engine and the rest
hammered out any dents and filled what needed it
scrubbed it down with 220 grit
bought $100 worth of paint
and flipped it.

I think your car and what you're doing to it is a bit past a 2 week flip

but I always think if I could have done that
I would have easily made a down payment on a house in a summer

Instead I worked jobs where I didn't make that much
I had 2 cars that were taking way too much of my life because they were to much for me and I didn't understand that. And I didn't have the time to work and go to school and work on the cars.

If I could have flipped 2 cars and made just $1,500 on each of them a month that would have been a full time job..... if I could have made $2500 on them or maybe flipped a third that would have been real money.

You got to have a plan and you don't even understand what the plan should be until you have lived through it and made the mistakes .. then wanted to go back and do it different.

wish you the best.. hope you find a job if thats what you need
