Default Possible 84 CRX purchase?

Hey guys! I've done this once before, with an 89 CRX I believe, but I decided against it. I've found another CRX not too far from me. This one is an 84, first generation. My mom drove one of these when I was little. It finally dropped a cylinder and the floor rusted out at 380k miles. Since I've been a teenager, I've wanted one. Details below. Let me know if you guys think this would be worth the trouble of restoring. 20 years in a barn with the windows down most likely means the interior is a total gut-job. The floors are probably rusted out. I'd hate to see what the under-body looks like. I've asked for more information and photos.

In my opinion, you'd be far better off spending a little more to get a cleaner starting point.

There are plenty out there.

Duly noted. If I were able to get it for 250-300, I feel like it would be more worth it for me.

A couple hundred bucks makes a difference when you're looking at several thousand in needed restorations?

Keep in mind, none of the parts will be widely available, interior or exterior. I've seen some go by on CL that were mostly intact, clean and rust free, good interior for a couple thousand. Just find one of those and save yourself the headache of trying to source non-existent replacement parts.

Yeah, that make sense. At least in my area, anyone with a CRX treats (and prices) them like they're made of gold.

Might be worth a one-way flight out to pick up a decent one then.

It's hard enough to find parts to rebuild a '91 that was already in fair shape, I can't imagine what it'd be like rebuilding an '84 from the ground up

What would be your plans for it? I think you can find a cleaner starting point as well. A driver for $1500 or so.

My plans (although constantly changing and evolving) would most likely involve a simple, clean build but focusing mainly on restoration. Maybe an LS swap, nothing crazy.

I'm more interested in the nostalgia of owning the car that I basically grew up around. I'll see if I can find a photo of it...
