Default Paint

My next question concerning weight reduction has to do with paint.

My freind says if I sand blast blast my car and get rid of all the paint, it will weigh less (and therefore be faster)

Anyone know how much the paint on an 89 hatch weighs?
any guesses on how much quicker my car will be with no paint?

Who the f!!k is this guy???? do you really think that will make you go faster????
I may still be new on the site (2months or so), but I have never heard a more ignorant question in my life. Why dont we all "sand our paint off" and weigh the
debris------- then we can answer this guy. . I cant beleive you are from montreal, where do you live????? and what rock did you come out of????

thats ghey. first question to ask yourself. do you see any tin can race cars? they all have paint on them. second question, is this car a daily driver? if it is, its a car that u drive every day not a race car.

and if its a beater then have fun...thats a lot of paint to strip.

p.s. drilling holes everywhere in your car will help reduce weight also

Be realistic dude. If you really want to save weight. Lok for lighter seats, and remove the rear ones. Take out all that isn't nessessary (dash, center consoles). They also make lighter hatches and windows, and many carbon fibre parts. Do this, and get some strong lightweight wheels and you will feel a difference, but keep the paint. It probably helps you "glide" through the wind
