Opinions please
sorry for the poor quality of photoshop work.....
I'm planning to paint my bumpers next week
I'm trying to decide whether to leave the black moulding unpainted
or paint them too
Also, I have a factory chin spoiler, should I paint it too, or leave it black. How is the spoiler done on the si's?

Re: Opinions please (GymkhanaGTI)
You should paint the bumpers white but leave the black strip all the way around like in pic #2. The whole white thing looks like *** to the 5th degree.

leave it man...my advice wouldnt be to paint your rubber like bumpers...go find a 90-91 or an 88-89 si. i think they had painted bumpers made of metal? anyway find that and [paint them...the quality would be better, but yea, leave the moldings...especially if your are in good shape.

Re: Opinions please (crxgator)
It kind of depends. Are you doing it yourself? If so, don't forget to use some adhesion promotor on the plastic and use flex paint. Be careful removing the side trim... they bend out of shape easily!
If you're going to paint the bumpers and side trim, do paint the door handles... it'll look nice and clean.
Do it the way you want. As long as you like how it looks, it doesn't matter what any of us say on here. Paint the bumpers first. If it still doesn't look right, paint the door trim and door handles.

Yea, I was kinda liking the black moulding thing too, They're kinda faded, but I can re-paint them black.
What about the chin spoiler? And the grille? are they black or white on a factory si?

like everyone else said, leave the mouldings black, maybe repaint them if u want, but it doesn't look too bad the way they are. And if your looking at getting new bumpers instead of painting them, i know that the SE had painted.

i think you should color match the side mirrors, door handles, and hood wiper sprayers only, ............ i have a white 90crxsi, and i did that, and left the black molding going around, and it looks nice and clean, but i had to make sure i got a paint that was the same white color, and i taped off the surrounding areas, cleaned it real good, put adhesive promoter, primer, and paint, and then clearcoat in a can, but i did light even coats and let each one dry good.
again, its just my opinion, do what you think looks good.

i dunno... i like the solid color look.
I'm gonna disagree with everyone else and say paint the side moldings.
BUT, the paint will chip easier off the moldings...
definitely paint the bumpers...

Re: Opinions please (HoMoCo FoLife)
yeah, homoco forlife is right, my civic has painted bumpers, and they are plastic. i dont think honda started making metal bumpers until at least 92 or something.

well if its a daily driver i would reccomend keeping it black since there are so many inconsiderate people (at least in my area) that dont think twice when they swing their car door open. if a door would hit your car, it usually hits that molding. if its painted, it would probably chip over time. just a suggestion of practicality.....

Re: Opinions please (keebler65)
yeah, good point keebler65. if he were to leave it black, and it got hit, it may make a small mark, but not nearly as noticible. i never even thought about that

Re: Opinions please (thumpu77)
I was all about the painted bumpers, JDM Covert.and the body kits. But, now I see less and less of the black front & rear bumpers ,I'm sticking with mine.I've just repainted the window and door moldings, antena post, and the front bumper with black trim paint.Looks tight , like new.Like yours, my car is white w/ white wheels, but I had my wheels painted to match my car.
I say keep the black bumpers, moldings etc.Touch it all up w/ trim paint.
This is the paint i used, comes in a spray can- SEM Trim Paint (Black) #39143
It's only $7.50 a can, give it a try if you don't like the look go w/ another choice.Start w/ the side trim first, one can will not be enough for the whole car.
It will make every thing look brand new and you can matsh the lip w/ bumper.
My uncle has painted cars for 22 years and this is the same stuff he uses.
Hope this helps
