my new unmolested crx
just picked it up today. used to own a light blue 88 crx dx and sold it like a moron. ive been kicking myself ever since but i promised myself id find a rust free, stock crx. well i finally found one and picked it up today.
i do have one question though. when shifting from 1st gear to 2nd it will only go into gear if the rpms are below 3k or so. i also have a hard time down shifting into 2nd. im hoping its just something to do with the gear oil and not a major problem with the transmission. the car is a 1991 dx with 1.5 engine. heres a couple of pics of my new baby:

Car looks real good. While they are still available, get a new oem front lip and a pair of belt moldings. Also, grab a can of flat black paint and give those wiper arms a quick shot, they will look like new in 5 mins.

i have the same problem with my crx. i was told by a guy who builds d-series transmissions that it is the csb going bad. my shift linkage is really sloppy also. wheni installed a short shifter second gear was alot easier to go into though but i would start with some honda gear oil and go from there

thats a nice CRx man. Yeah it definetly sounds like the synchronizers are going bad. good chance to get an si tranny! but if you dont have the money to do that now, try double clutching into 2nd. that will synchronize the tranny before you switch gears and stop the grinding. I have done this before, it works great for a while, but when it stops working, then youll need a rebuild. oh and STOP down shifting to 2nd. it will only make it worse

Bump for the Mainers doin' it! Bump for the clean lil rex too. It's time for some clean fat 5's or Si's and a nice 00 Si CD player.
