My car sounds like a wrx...... Need Help!
My car just started doing this. It sounds like a WRX, really choppy sounding. It does it quiet often. Mostly when im accelerating but sometimes it doesnt do it at all. When it does happen i notice a slight loss in power. I tried searching but i couldnt find anything so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: (EF8opey)
throw some subaru emblems on it
p.s. maybe bad gas also, fouled plugs, dirty fuel filter, tons of stuff.
i had a little mazda pickup that did that, turns out it was a clogged cat.

The problem you are having is you have oil or water in your spark plugs / wires. Same exact thing happend to me. Its your spark plugs. Check them, Get new ones, and if you have an Air compresser and a blow gun then shoot sone parts wash / brake cleaner in there and then put some rags over the valve cover so the rags catch all the oil / water. Trust me I do this all the time at work

Couldn't of said it better myself. Sorry I gave, not so understand info. But yea, your running on 3, or even 2 cyl.

When it sounds like a wrx thats because its not running on all 4 cylinders..
Do the basic tune-up----Cap,rotor,plugs,wires if they need it and see what happens,,If it still does it check the compression of the motor..All the numbers should around each other.

Re: (goofball123321)
it could be numerous things, but the REAL REASON its making that noise is becuase its not running on all cylinders, maybe 3 maybe 2, could be anything anyone said. headgasket maybe, start by turning your car on, pull each plug wire one by one, after you pull one put it back in before you pull another, one by on, if the rpm's drop on every one except cylinder .....3 than change your wires maybe that will do it. if not do the same thing with injectors, start the car and unplug them on by one, if you unplug one and the idle doesnt drop then theres your problem bad injector, you could also do a voltage test on the injectors, if you kno how, im tired and done typing, good luck.

cant be a disconnected plug wire, it would sound like a lawnmower all the time

Yeah I don't quite know what you mean by the noise. My CRX is the loudest car around, I'm pretty sure everyone is laughing at it when I autocross and hit the fuel cutoff. I know I'm not down a cylinder. It sounds like my dad's 2000 Si when the b16 crosses over (AEM CAI), but twice as loud. I'm pretty sure it's my intake (on the car when I got it), maybe you have a new intake that sounds different?
