Mugen Ecu Program for B16
I come to find out I have PR3. That made me come to the decision of reprogramming my ecu. I am opting for the MUGEN program from jdmhondaparts.com I plan on going with CTR pistons, and cams, I figure with the 9500 redline I should have plenty of powerband. If you have had your ecu chipped or have a Hondata or some other programable ecu. Where should I set the VTEC higher, lower, or stock? Thanks guys.

Re: Mugen Ecu Program for B16 (CRXBart)
I had a PR3 reprogramed ecu in my car,it was done by somebody else, but it was a mugen program. the vtec cross over was @4500rpm and red line @10000rpm and vtec worked when the engine was cold too. On where you want to set the vtec!It depends on how you like to drive your car,and what tranny you have in it . If you like to alway be in vtec then get it set at 4400 or 4500, cause when i'm on the freeway @70mph i'll be @4500rpm so i'll be in vtec alot.

ef9yoshi-Does your car run rich with the mugen program? So far all of the mugen chipped b16a's that I've run into all run rich.

Re: Mugen Ecu Program for B16 (spdster)
Not to butt in but I have a modded b16a in my 91 EX with the Mugen program but VTEC x-over at 5000 so I would not always be in VTEC with my S1 tranny.
That mug is buzzy(!!!!) on the freeway and there is a dead spot just before VTEC right where I should have had it at 4400.....It does not run rich but I have 11.2:l compression & portflow head, ITR intake, valvetrain upgrade, etc.....

Re: Mugen Ecu Program for B16 (Red Civic T)
That is exactly what I plan on doing with my build up this winter and with the addition of JDM Civic TYPE R cams. How fast are you running with the 11.2:1 CR? I was going to just get .25 over Civic type R pistons, for a 11:1 CR. What pistons are you running? I have found valve springs only for the '92-'00 B16A's, will these retrofit in earlier B16A's? I was looking at the Skunk2s. Is it true all b-16 mechanical components are interchangable? Thanks alot!!!

Re: Mugen Ecu Program for B16 (CRXBart)
Bro, just on break-in @ 250 miles...got CTR pistons, ITR intake mani. and cams, Skunk2 cam gears, DC 4:1 headers (watch out for front x-member clearance), S1 tranny that makes me wish I had a 6th gear on the highway.
I think that mechanicals will exchange, but remember injectors and ECU's differ. I have a 91 b16a so have a PR3 ECU with the Mugen program. Even tho Locash (www.locashraing.com) rec'd the 5k x-over I would rec. the 4400 for midrange power - not gas mileage tho.
I also got a JG overbore on my throttle body but the quality not too great with idle sticking @ 1500-2k...
I have a 4 dr. so kind of heavy but will try to drop a little weight. Once I run I will try to get a run in heavy form to get a baseline plus go to the dyno and get that mug dialed in...
