Default motor mount ?'s

need to know the placement of the mounts for a B16 xsi into a 89 dx crx or does anyone have a schematic (would be more helpful if any one had this)

its pretty straigh forward the one with 4 holes goes on the back the one with 3 goes on the tranny and the other on the driver side as long as you have the mounts for a b16 in a EF

as long as you have the right mounts and the right back bracket you dont have to move anything and i wouldnt suggest moving your mounts anywhere else except where they are supposed to be otherwise you could run into trouble

so your telling me you dont have to move the mounts anywhere if i get hasport mounts they will fit right on to the motor and i wont have to move the mounts just weld them back on in the same place

HAsport mounts do not require any welding or moving for the b series engine in an ef. The only possibility is you have to change the drivers side bracket on the engine if the motor is 92+.

all the mounts are bolted in there are no mounts that are welded in otherwise you have mad vibration in the whole car. now the only thing you MIGHT have to do modify is bending the place where the mounts are bolted into the car just to squeeze the mounts in. but hasport mounts dont require you to change/move anything on the car its a direct bolt in with no work except bolting them on and putting the motor in.

it sounds to me that you dont have anybody helping you on this and i suggest you find someone that at least knows about hondas and swaps and just a suggestion it is easier to put the engine in through the bottom but you would have to take off the front crossmember

well i just finish doing my motor mounts.i didnt have to weld anything.they all fit in place.the only thing u have to do is,on the back crossmember theres 2 hole near the passenger side and 2 holed near driver side.these hole is were you rear bracket bolts on to.now u have to buy or get a 90-93 ls rear bracket and bolt it to the 2 holes near the driver side.before u do that,if u could see the bracket hits the crossmember.u have to bend the crossmember a little down to give a little bit of clearance for the bracket.then youll all set.the rest u dont have to do anything to it. they bolt on like nothing.make sure u know if your getting street mounts or drag mounts.street are real comfortable but u loose torque.drag are stiff as hell and youll feel vibration but it doesnt loose torque.is your call.

you gotta dent in the drivers side frame rail for alternator clerance too. no cutting or welding just bending little things here and there to make it work. definatly easyer going in through the bottom.

well your motor should have came with the right back bracket if you bought it from a good place and i also forgot about the denting in the driverside of the frame to clear the alternator otheriwse you'll be hearing something from starwars for a while. i made this mistake and forgot to do that and it just grinded away at the frame.

maybe just a little bit but i think he might mean avid but there is also innovative mounts but you just got to look around and also check the hondamarketplace for some decent deals on all parts but i wouldnt suggest getting used ones

Oh and yes unless your planning to cut and weld or your really good and hitting stuff with a hammer you will need to get the mounts

umm no

You are right you DO need hasport or aftermarket mounts, IF you DO NOT want to cut anything.

IF you are really good and welding you CAN cut and weld and refabricate and sand, polish and paint :D

Its your choice on what you think is easier

Lets put it this way the inside of the SiR engine bay looks like a 90-93 integra engine bay.. The B16a wont fit unless you either modify which would be welding, or you can get aftermarket mounts which save time, hassle and money if you are planning to paint your weld

bro i think there is something you dont understand there is no part of the motor mount that is welded to and part of the car or engine the stock ones are bolted to the engine i dont know if you figured that out yet but there is no cutting or welding involved in putting a motor in. you're making this hard for yourself its very very very easy. if you dont have the b16 take your time to look at your stock motor and how the motor mounts are bolted to the car and the engine.

now if that really is a XSi engine then you need new mounts and i had cheap ones from ebay like 140 i paid and they were polyurethane. but if you got a b16 from a CRX then the mounts will fit without buying new ones. i could sell you my mounts but i was in an accident with my CRX and one of them needs to be rewelded a little

ok there this is how it works, there are four places inside the engine bay where you can mount up the engine. (driver side, passenger side, front crossmember, back crossmember). There are two parts for the mount there is the mount brackets which are welded and sealed into the engine bay. go to google and type in crx engine and you can see the way it fits in there. The other part of the mount is a removable piece that you attach to the engine, one of the attachements is right under the cam gears, the other to the transmission, the 3rd is under the engine label i.e. where is says b16a on the block. The last one is on the back directly behind the front mount.
