Which motor bolt into 91 crx si?
I am going to pick up a 91 crx from a friend that wants to get rid of it. He said that the motor is blown but everything else is fine. I was just wondering if you guys could help me out and let me know which motors will directly bolt into the crx without having to swap out the tranny and all that other stuff. Also...... I want to build the motor for nitrous because I already have a turbo car and would like to have both..... so any information on which motor parts to use to build the motor would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

it depends on if its multi point or dual point. if multi then you can swap any d-series engine with multi point fuel injection (4 fuel injectors). A D16a6 or a ZC would be a direct bolt in. If its a dual point then convert cause there is no good reason to keep a dual point.

any d-series motor will bolt in if its a si or hf you wont have to worry about the mpfi swap. but if its a dx you have to do the whole mpfi swap first. but if its a si or hf then you can a d16a6 ,sohc zc non vtec, and dohc zc those fit right in no modification to anything. if going d16z6 or d16y8 then you have to convert to the that motors obd either obd 1 for the d16z6 or obd2 for the y8. but other than that they bolt in the wiring is a whole new story.

And where can I find this d16a6? Thanks. The D15b is looking kinda good right now. Is there anything else that I would need for the D15b to fit right in? Sorry if I seem like Im asking the same questions...... I just want to make sure. Thanks.

if you have an si it comes standard with a d16a6 why you wanna go d15b vtec. you would have to convert to obd1. and with a d16a6 or dohc or sohc zc it just bolts and plugs right in nothing else to do

Yea I think that the DOHC ZC is what Im looking for. Can I get aftermarket cams or other internals to build this motor? I wanna run spray on the motor and want to make sure that it can handle a decent amount of spray. Thanks again for the info.

It doesn't particularly matter with the D-series. Both SOHC and DOHC models are limited by the bottom end, not by the valvetrain configuration. Get whatever is cheaper and/or has fewer miles.
