Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
Marcos,
Do you ever slow down? I like what you are doing, simply modifying a car to suit your needs. Looks good to me! Oh btw, I had a cd player in my car in 1985, I understand about things running in circles. My first car was a 1970 mustang, I redesigned the front and rear suspension, removed the frame rails and stored the originals, built coilover and a frame front suspension and a coilover 3 link with watts link rear suspension. Now this stuff is sold in kits. Go figure.

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
Man, I think I like the EX wheel covers from a 2003-4? on the EF sedan. I'd been thinking about this, but had never seen on IRL or pictures. I need 15" wheels first.
Thanks for the inspiration..my EF sedan has been sitting, about ready to get her going again!

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
alright guys on the 22nd its my last day of work down at kawasaki
we have a whole week off for christmas and new years
so on that down time theres something big coming for the rolls
and thats the start of something that in my eyes will be a game changer for most ef guys with b series motors
almost with all those swaps you have the stiff engine mount and the vibration problem
some dont mind it because it goes away when your moving
for me its there when im sitting and when im engine braking
the fix for this is a stock engine mount
but its really hard to get one for a b series swapped ef the main engine mount thats makes all the fuss is of course the rear mount
sits on the rear crossmember and shakes the car around making it vibrate like crazy at times
i can only think of two ways to fix this
one is replaceing the mount with a stock da one
now for that to happen i would have to drop the rear crossmember and thats not too easy
you have to drop the exhuast remove the steering rack, the lower control arms the tie rods, the shift leakage so you can remove it from the car
with your b series swap mount still bolted in !!
and then youd start measuring exactly where that mount it located
write down your mesurments from all 4 corners
then remove the b series swap mount and put in your da mount see if any holes line up at all at the location you measured
and then id fill in the holes for the bolts clean everything and then line up my stock da mount tack weld it in place
and drill new bolt hole locations then cut out my tack welds making the mount a bolt on
this way youd have a nice stock soft rear mount and the vibration problem would be fixed or at least lessened a crap ton
and then theres option 2 and this came to mind just last night
and its modifying the bracket that bolts the motor to the rear mount
for this option id use a stock ef civic mount that would bolt in to the stock location
and id cut up and make the rear bracket bolt in
and then id make the bracket as heavy duty as i feel would be nessesary
both options would work
but i think option 2 would be less work
and then i also wonder why i havent seen this done yet?
i cant be the first to have this idea or am I?
the work wont start till about the 24th so i have alot of time to think about witch option id go with
if you guys have any other ideas post them in here id love to here what you guys think
whats important about this modification is just that we switch from stiff mounts to normal mounts thats all that matters

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
I see your having fun in the snow too, at least Nebraska probably has a plow. Here, they mostly just wait for it to melt.
Yes, I've about finished stripping the CRX, so I have everything, but I'm undecided on it. I like the CRX bumper, but I like the sedan grille. Maybe I'll get creative with that.

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
haha yea the city does a good job with the plows thats funny about kent, i have family in seattle but ive never been up there during the winter, it must be nice
i think the crx si bumper is the best that the 4th gen civics have to offer
mainly because it goes straight down
the sedan one goes down about 5 inches and then in about 4 and then down about 5 thats what i dont like
but that was the style back then right
i havent seen any crxs at the junk lately so no parts have been bought i mainly just want the fenders because im going to cut them up at the junk so i dont have to pay full price
or at least thats the plan anyway haha

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
been too cold to do anything
snow is less but its still -25 out most days
but today there was a break in the weather and we got up to 30
haha i felt like putting on some shorts and going on a bike ride
but instead i gave the rolls a much needed car wash
its still too cold to do anything
ive even been thinking of making a temp garage on the driveway
one that you can put up do your work with a heater in there
and then take the garage down everyday you know, make one out of tarps or something

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
last week i was out with a honda friend of mine, and he was amazed at how smooth the rolls works just cruising down the road
and how low my rpms are in 5th gear
at 40 mph the rolls is just idling. a normal honda would be at about 2250 rpm at 40 mph
and i told him its for the gas saving when on the interstates and highways
my 5th gear i cant tell non team members what it is
all i can say is that its a team secret and it came out of a old toyota ^_-
i gave the car a service last night
an oil change
air filter
front brakes serviced and tires rotated
then went out for a drive in 8 degree icy and snowy lincoln ^_^
i love this car
but on the drive back home i started feeling a little vibration im guessing one of the two old back wheels now front wheels might not be perfectly straight
well see as time goes on if the vibration stays then ima have to get one or two new 15 inch steelies
i have a few parts to install but im just playing the waiting game till this cold starts to go away
or untill i get more garage time with my team mates
stay tuned

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
its updates time
today we had a break in the weather
and also the teams garage had a open stall
so lets get this update going
enjoy ^_^
my team mates have alot going on but this is the build thread for the rolls
so no talk about the starlet or the briklin
today was the install of my adjustable upper control arms
back in 2016 my stock upper control arms had cracked boots at the ball joints
and about 2 weeks ago they started to rattle meaning they were done
so first steps first i got the rolls up on the alignment rack and checked the camber
that reading is -3 camber my sweet spot is at -2 so its not far off
so out came the strut and the upper control arm
my new ones ^_^
these are great because in the future you can replace the ball joint by just unbolting the old one and bolting in a new one
and set to -2 camber
sadly at this point it was 4pm and we headed out for lunch and when we came back we just sat around and talked and told stories for the rest of the day
so i only got the passenger side done
the drivers side would be the same thing so im not going to even post anything about it
i left the teams garage at 2am
when ever we get together we always have a good time
more updates soon

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
todays update is just two small ones put together
first of all i got me a new exhuast tip off a 8th gen civic to finish off my exhaust build
enjoy
and since the weather was nice on this day
it was also carwash time
so i got the rolls nice and clean
and update 2 was just a rutine service
oil change air filter change checked all fluids
one thing that i think ive mentioned on here before but im not sure
is that my radiator has a small leak
and when i say small i mean theres a few drops missing from it being topped off every two weeks
but it will steam out the hood every now and again but its drops only
when this first started happening i ordered a new radiator
and said that when the crack in the old one gets worse then ill replace it but it seems like that repair might not happen for another year at this rate
i go thew a coffee cup of anti freeze every 2 months so its not a big deal at all
more updates soon

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
todays update was me messing with my roof rack
its my custom peace i made myself
ive had it for about a year now i have not posted anything about it
i made it useing 1/8th thick by 3/4th round steel tubing that i got at the junkyard for "10 bucks"
its been great for my uses and ive had no problems
but back when i made it i welded everything useing my 110 flux core welder and there was some splatter here and there
and i never cleaned it
and so today i added my bicycle hookups to it "also custom made"
and i finally cleaned up the weld splatter and all the edges
its probebly just something that ill notice but im happy with my end product
I have a heavy duty roofrack with two bike attactments and it only cost my 20 bucks total
more updates coming asu

and tec heres the wiring for the cluster
the 88-89
and the 90-91
and you know to be honest ive always had clusters with the rpm guage
in all my efs threw out the years
ive never had one without
and i want one ive been looking for a tackless cluster for years but no luck
cars in mexico are almost always in great shape man
they dont age down there
the only problem is the crappy gas the government sells its only good for a week or so and then it turns to mud haha

And yes I found my Crx Si down here and itīs the cleanest Iīve had (NO RUST) as for when I lived in Omaha the two that I had before where full of rust on the Quater panels both the DX and HF.
But Gas down here sucks ! haha thatīs why I go with the Premium as itīs a little cleaner than the commerical gas down here but still kinda sucks haha
but As for the Sedan I will go check it out tomorrow!! Excited!

Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan
thats just it
i feel like im not really missing anything, but im sure that once a ef pops up at the junk ill see something i want
this summer for example i plan on installing a bench seat up front, so you can fit 3 people in front making the sedan a 6 seater ^_-
but havent found a good bench seat at the junk to snag
i have to relocate my parking brake first before i do the seat so thats all to come in a few months
