next update is one that i did over the winter
so shes an oldie and just now making on the screen

is was the measuring and trimming on the driver side side skirt

the skirts im useing are the 96-00 4dr civic skirts

it was trimmed and ready to go just have to drill out the holes and bolt it down
but i havent done it yet
only the passenger side so far

so next update just might be this ^_-

this weekend i was called in to work at honda
there was a civic type r from indiana that was overheating
and the normal techs couldnt figure out why

so they called yours trully since ive already fixed this problem in the past on another civic type r
so that was fun
working at the shop when theres no one there
driving a type r down the road at 2am with no bumper on while i was doing my testing haha
long story short i fixed my second new type r
but sadly it ment i couldnt work on my car this weekend

i finished working on the type r at 4am
i took two of these with me

and later today on my way to work I found a crx for sale

400 bucks auto 1989 modal
it was tempting but nahh haha
i still have a long way to go on the 4dr before another project

more updates soon

Default Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan

this weekend we had rain in the forcast
so painting was out of the question

so today i looked at these numbers

26 7/8

and on the drivers side

25 3/8

same problem with the rear *** well

the whole driver side is about an 1" and some change lower than the passenger side
the easy trick is to switch the struts around
but then i would have a lower passenger side

the other option would be new springs
but new springs for a ef isnt that easy to get anymore

so for todays update we are making a lift kit
and only lifting the drivers side

were going to make the kit useing some old top hats
enjoy

plan is to just throw it on top of the old to get our one inch lift

here you can see that i need to make the whole a little bigger

now she fits

now we add our mounting bolts

and prep our stuff for welding

the 14mm bolts that hold our struts in place arnt going to break they have been on there for 30 years already
but just in case
i am going to mount the bottom peace like so

just incase we ever have to replace them
all you would have to do is drill the hole on the bottom top hat to 1/2 inch and the bolt will fit threw for replacement

moving on

and thats one
down
i only had two spare top hats so the other two im gonna use the two driver side ones

more updates soon

part two

now we can get wrenching

before i got the front strut reassembled i got my new dust boot on

got the front strut put back together and started on the rear
but before we move on heres the passenger side strut tower
in stock hieght

and heres the diver side with the one inch lift

once i got the rear strut off i had two top hats to play with again

and the finished products

and we now have a car that sits level ^_^

ill re measure again in a few days to let the struts settle
more updates soon

well its been a few days and its time for the final numbers ^_^

our passenger side is looking like this

a little over 26 1/4
whitch is a 1 inch drop from what it used to be

and the driver side the side that we lifted

a little over 26 1/2
over a 1 inch lift

leaving the driver side a 1/4 inch higher
and should even out when i get in the car

or at least i would think haha
balance is never a bad thing
now the height numbers are looking alot better

also those two pictures were number 1440 on this build
thats a crap ton of pictures and sadly tiny pic
the site i use to store them is closing this year
so im going to loose all the pictures!!
yes i could download them all and save them and then re upload using another site like photobucket
but im not going to
im just going to keep the first picture when i got the car and then keep my updates going
so all the pictures that are still up are for your eyes only untill the sad day comes

more updates soon

ok so this will be my first update with the new picture formatting/resizing and also
uploading the pictures directly to honda tech without using a picture sharing service

so this weekend not a hole lot is going to happen since the plan is to take the family out to the lake
and go on a bike ride, go swimming , bbq you know summer fun in the sun ^_-
so todays update will be small
its the repainting on my wind sheld wipers and one new wiper blade
i never replace both i always just throw the passenger side away
move the drivers over and put a new one on the drivers

enjoy

Default Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan

this weekend i planned on painting my other fender
but last night about 2 miles from home my clutch cable went out

good thing that years ago and i mean years ago haha i learned how to shift without using the clutch
so i was able to limp the car home

i cant even be mad either because for the last 30 years its been pulling and letting go like a champ
and at the end the cable didnt brake the plastic did
so i ordered a new aftermarket one from vatozone

with all new cables you have to make your adjustment
and then test drive and then re adjust as many times *** needed
because the new cable will stretch pretty much right away
so for about 2 hours i was out driving around and then my gears would get harder and harder to kick in
so i kept pulling into parking lots and making more and more adjustments

after 4 times i finely got it perfect
it took most of my saturday
so i guess this will count as this weeks update

i really wonna get some more painting done

more updates soon

Off topic, but I'm curious what you did to fix the Type-R? Rebleed the system? Small leak?

Default Re: Marcos's new work car 90 sedan

the techs that work at the dealer ship full time couldnt figure it out so i got called in to see if i could fix the issue

it was a 2017 type r civic from indiana that was overheating
i showed up at night when the place was closed (im the back up for emergencies so i have access to all ^_- )

and yes you would start the car and let it run and it would be fine at idle no overheating no matter how long it sat turned on and running
its only when you would drive it that it gets hot

the owner left a note saying this only happens in hot weather also
and yes it overheated on him while he was on a road trip and he got stranded in lincoln haha yay me ^_-

so first i removed the bumper and hood and went for a drive and it still ever heated but not as fast or as bad
it ran about 12 deg cooler

second i ran the coolent with only water now it ran about about 2 deg cooler from before but still about 20 deg too hot
even worse if you turn the ac on

third i removed the thormostat and ran it again now it ran 30 deg cooler and didnt overheat anymore problem fixed in my mind

fourth i installed new thormostat and overheating problem came back !!

and so 5th and last haha
i drilled 17 1/2 inch holes in the front bumper in places that you wouldnt notice the holes to begin with and reinstalled the bumper
lifted the back of the hood 5mm to get more airflow when moving help cool the engine better

then removed the new thormostat and removed the seep plug
ill insert the picture so you can see what im talking about

after i cut that out i went one step further and with a 3/16 drill bit i also enlarged the hole
then reinstalled the thormostat

then after about 40 minutes of interstate driving with the ac on i called it fixed
it didnt over heat anymore
didnt matter if you were in boost or not
or if the ac was running or not

those were the 3 tweeks i did to get the fix
ive done this to about 7 type r's now

the thormostat well fix the overheating but if you skip the other two tweeks
after about 20 minutes of driving at high speed the cars temp will creep up so you need to do all 3
if you want to drive all day like say on a road trip for example

not all type r's have this problem its a hit and miss type of deal from what i can tell so far
so its not worthy of a recall ... yet

oh and by the way driving the type r on the interstate is awsome
its powerfull - smooth -comfy -quiet ish the steering feels solid, the gears go in nice and crisp
but then again its a new car

it really go me thinking about upgrading from my ed3 .... just kidding ^_-

Crazy to think that such minor tweaks are the difference between maintaining operating temperature and overheating. I would have thought there would be a bigger factor of safety considered in the OEM cooling system.

I agree. Amazing that the motor is so sensitive to small changes. I heard rumor of guys removing the upper grill to allow more airflow, but not all the other little tweaks.

Back on topic:
Marco, Is that an Integra clutch cable? I recall another recent thread where someone was asking about the right cable on an EF with a BSwap. My hatch still has (what looks like) the original cable likely stretched out to heck. Went to replace it with a nice BeckArney one and found out the lengths are different..

im sure that if honda would use a thormostat that is about 2mm more open overall
this problem wouldnt ever happen because it would have more than enough flow after words and the other two tweeks wouldnt be
needed
i left a note on my supervisors desk on how to fix this problem but im betting it wont happen haha
it would cost too much and what would they do with all the old thormostats they already have
you know how that goes with companies

and yea the cable
the one that snapped on me was from a 90 crx si
and the aftermarket replacment from autozone is aslo 90 crx si

i think the da integra cable is a bit longer (like 2 inches) but still works the same

this weekend after the cable repair i had every intention of getting my passenger side fender painted

got my block off plate mocked up and grinded it down so i had my 1/8th gap at the bottom

since the last fender was the bad one i thought i got this im working on the easy side this time ^_-
then i noticed i was missing a 1/4 of steel on my block off plate

i dont remember this problem this last winter when i made the plates
i just said ol well and added more steel

now this i can work with

this is when the sun was going down and i said yea im calling it quits
theres no way i can weld this on do the body work and spray it

so this was a sneek peak of whats happening this weekend ^_-

a 4door hatchback
now that would be a nice project ^_-

its time for me to do my thing isnt it
this weekend we got some much needed work done
enjoy

so on saturday it was body work and paint day for my passenger side fender

didnt take too much body work since this was the good fender

turned out great i put it inside the house to dry overnight
and heres something i didnt show on the last fender
its the painting of the inner side
if you dont paint the inner then your going to get rust in a few months
its a mistake that too many painters make
especially the ones that fix the rear rusted panals on hondas of old

anyway sunday morning before going to work
i got her all put back together
and now my corner light delete project is complete ^_^

its that time of the week again
this weekend due to chances of rain
there was no painting
but i got my horn set up finished

i installed some horns from a 98 accord
into the 4 door
these are single wire

blue wire with a red stripe
and my factory horn harness has the blue wire with red stripe already in it
along with the white wire witch we are just not going to use anymore

so i got those wired in
and now it was time to move into the car
and find the horn connection

and right here on the far left is our blue wire with red stripe

the other two wires here are the cruise control wires

after i got my wire i put the steering wheel stuff back together and dicided the ditch the dead weight

my power source for the horn is going to be slot 5
the constant 12 volts

so i started the wiring to a switch and dicided to use the old clutch pedal switch/button

and just like that we have a working horn ^_^

this weekends update is a small one but
still an update
this weekend i did my yearly 1 qt flush of trans fluid on the rolls
i do this to every car at home
each year only replace 1 qt
this way you always have a good mix

and you get to check the fluid level

when doing this you must make sure that you remove the fill plug before the drain plug

heres my 10w30 motor from 2017
looks bad in the cup but it was clean

and switching over to the good stuff i picked up a while back

after driving for a few day like always ill tell you the truth
there is no difference at all with the way the car shifts or drives
motor oil works just the same
the only reason i switched over to honda trans fluid is because i gave the car a treat for two years of good use
like a reward for not giving me any problems ^_-

Surely it'd be easier to just remove the roof racks haha.
