I swapped a 93 Si D16Z6 into my 89 hatch everything is done it starts but it.....
It starts runs rough and it overheats and my temp gauge isnt workin. checked timing and everythin and another odd thing is taht we ended up with an extra connector and a female end of a cnnector on the new motor with no harness for it but its not one of the 8 others that i had to splice in and we have a few vaccum lines with no where to go......please help.......thanks

Check for obvious things first, cooling system. Does the fan engage, keep the radiator cap open and make sure all the air is gone. Make sure you have all your wires going to the right place on the distributor. What's up with the thermostat?
Also, how do you know it's overheating when your temp gauge is not working?

well all the distributor wires are right and iwe did let the air out of the system for at least 20 min and it was boiling out and the intake manifold was really hot and everything i mean everythin was hot to touch even the line that come off the breather that goes to the intake pipe before the throttle body.
