Thanks any inputs, I want to change my compressor because ever since I got it recharged, it has been squeeling on and off and i know the belt is tight and I think the bearing in the compressor is going bad so i want to change it.

Disconnect an AC line, but it is against the law to do so depending on what state you live in...

Please do not just dispense the gas into the air.

Yea go to shop with an evacuator and see if they can take it out and give it back for a fee. Considering you probablly ave r12 since you are posting in this forum, and you should know the price of that stuff. It just isnt worth letting it out in the atmosphere as everyone had said, money wise it is ignorant as well.

it cost me 90 to fill my tank, but ever since like 3 weeks after use, i have these squeaking noises and I am pretty sure it is the freakin compressor.
Yeah I'll check
thanks
I rather use 134a, cuz then its cheap and I know there is a retrofit kit for 30 bucks

Like everyone has/is going to tell you.Take it to someone with a recycling machine.
If you are going to replace the compressor(since you think that's the problem),then yes retro with the 134 refrigerant.BUT it will cost more than the $30 kit to to it right. If the compressor is squelling-that's meatal shavings going into the rest of system. You need to evacuate the system, flush it out,put the new compressor on.Also you have to replace the reciever-drier,something about the differances in the freon.
Then you have to pull the system down into a vacumm-to make sure everything is sealed tight-then recharge it with the 134 retro fit.
