Help with a crx AWD conversion.

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: Help with a crx AWD conversion.
I see... Well regardless if you get on the YouTube and search AWD Civic/CRX you will find videos of vehicles that may suit your fancy.
On a side note - you can remove the driveshaft and dyno it FWD instead of AWD and such...

Re: Help with a crx AWD conversion.
Won't work on 50/50 split diff designs but with hondas old school visciouse bullcrap it might be possible to unplug the rear axles or run custom hubs? either way this thread failed another wishfull thinker. Bisiwagon is 2wd btw they started with a 2wd model and stuck with a 2wd
I used to run my dohc zc against his 14second sohc crx back in 1997 he would drive to carlsbad track with lexan windows all around lol...

Re: Help with a crx AWD conversion.
Well I know for a fact I FWD dynoed my RT4WD CR-V... So I know what's possible. To support my claims... (yes I understand it's a civic and they used a Wagon rear end - but the transfer case is built onto the CR-V transmission they used).

Now for the viscous coupler design it's the same but even easier...

(Not as definitive since its forum talk...)
These are just a couple examples of each... There are more out there. Remember we are talking about Honda's RT4WD system, new and old, and not anything else. Unless you are wanting to start talking about that other stuff then we can.

Re: Help with a crx AWD conversion.
Might as well, the op left us alone! lol.... I am in the market for a dry/cold cut saw. I want the portercable 1410 but They stopped making that. My dad has a real coldsaw (Dake) but after fooling with a buddys cold/dry cut saw I am sold. Cuts nice, burr free, cool to the touch and no sparks or dust all over the place. I currently use a 4x6 HF band saw or a plasma. I hate chopsaws due to the dust and sparks. And a dake is too large. My 2 car garage is a 1 car right now...
I might buy this pos and see what kind of trouble I can get into.

Re: Help with a crx AWD conversion.
For the sake of you fellas, my awd sedan had a lever on the transmission that can be moved to prevent any power from going to the rear (Making it fwd). The idea in the service manual is so the car can be towed with the rear wheels on the ground, but it 'works' for driving it around as well.
You probably already established this but bisi's wagon has a fwd transmission.

Re: Help with a crx AWD conversion.
I'm new to this but as far as I know this is where you come for help, and as for it being a hard swap if you do all your homework/planning first it's not hard at all so it takes a lil skill, and unless you were born knowing everything like everyone else in here apperantly, you will have to learn like the rest of us, I hate seeing someone bashed for aski for help by someone who's ability probably doesn't extend past a simple exhaust install, it's funny how soon people forget that they too were once where you are
