H22A EF8 CRX
I am toying with the idea of dropping a H22A in my 1990 CRX SiR.
It's the JDM EF8 model with the factory b16a. (power steering, aircon etc).
I've read isolated posts in other forums, but I question their reliability, as they were related to civics, rather than this CRX.
I'm concerned about clearance issues. I would be happy to lose the air con, but not the power steering. I'd probably just do a b18c conversion if that were the case.
Does anyne know anything about this specific swap? Thanks in advance

You may be able to keep your AC since its ran off the Alt. belt also. You would need to use the factory cast iron brackets.
My h22 crx is my daily driver and is a trouble free car, it road better then my B series crx. Just like it was made from the factory this way. Never had any issues with axle alignment etc etc. We spent hundreds and hundreds of hours developing the kit. The hood clearance with our kits is about 1/2" on the highest point of an OEM usdm hood.
Far as I know I thought no crx's ever had power steering even the SIRs?

Re: H22A EF8 CRX (Dylanamus)
ef8.... lucky bastard.
anyway, i'm not sure on the clearance on the power steering. but i seem to remember explicit speed's mounts require the use of an alternator only pully for clearance. i'm not sure on hasport's or other mount companies. but even with those mount companies they dont make mounts for h22's in the SiR. mount bracket locations are diggerent between the SiR and other 89-91 civic/crx's. so custom mounts are out of the question unless you get those non-SiR brackets and weld them in. now thats pretty much all the info i have on the h22 swap in this case. explicitspeed360 here on h-t wounld be able to answer more questions than me.
and if you feel a h22 is out of the question, you may want to consider using your current b16 head. finding a good b18 block isnt hard to find, and the b16 head casting is the same as the b18c5, the b18c5 has better cams and a mild port. but the money you save would be considerable. even more so if you chose a lsvtec, use your b16 pistons and have a killer oem na with compression ratio above 11.6, .2 higher than the jdm b18c5 and you can remain obd0 with a chip and a good tune.

correct me if I am wrong the only difference in the SIR chassis of motor mounts is the passenger side chassis mount? If so you have to weld in or bolt in the new passenger side chassis mount so that should take care of that?

I would almost guaruntee the MC will be in the way, and you won't be able to run an intake on it. It would work with ITBs, but you will have to use custom mounts, since the EF8 has different mount locations than the US cars, that the mounts were designed for. Besides that, H22, is just not a good choice of an engine. Do a LSvtec, B20vtec, B18C, or K20, they are much better choices. And yes RHD K swaps have been done before, there is a guy on k20a.org rocking a K swapped EE8.

Yes you are wrong the driver's side mount is different too. Also the rear EE8 subframe has its mount holes in slightly different places.

Yes only b16 equipped cars ef8 ef9 have the different mount locations.
