fuel pump problem/translplant
my 88 civic lx wont start because the fuel pump isnt working. my question is this....
if it is the fuel pump that needs replacement: will an 88 crx si pump work ok?
and if the fuel pump isnt bad....what would cause it not to work? i dont think that the fuel pump has a fuse under the dash does it?

Definitely check this first as it could be the cause of the problem you are having. Plus, its a much less work than replacing the fuel pump.

There is a fuse that controlls the pump also. It is something that mentions nothing about the pump... like ECU or Clock or something totally unrelated that just happens to be not in my head right now. Check every fuse. I ran in to this...
I'm driving. Car just dies. I look at fuse block, everything fuel related looks good. Test power at pump, None. Check all fuses without removing them. All look good. Check everything again, no power. Pull each fuse out one at a time, and the mysterious unrelated one is popped just slightly at the edge. Replace. Fire up the car, its been fine since then. This was the day after I put my walbro in, so I knew mine probably wasn't the main relay.
Good luck.
If it is a consistant fuel pump not ever working problem, I'm putting my money on the fuse, not the main relay. If it is occasional then it is probably the relay. Main relays usually wimper to death, not just die at once.

9/10 times its the ground wire that's by the starter, people always forget that ground, and the fuel pump is grounded there...
I found this out the hard way on a buddies car.. We also thought it was the relay, but had another running CRX Si to swap replays with...

When you turn the key to accessory you should hear it click, if you dont hear it click the relays not working properly.

Could you be more specific as to the location please. Do you mean the ground on the thermostat housing?
