Default d16a6 swap question...

just picked up a 88 crx si, its got a d16a6 in it......can anyone tell me if a d16z6 or d16y8 head will swap onto the block? also, will the valve springs/locators/retainers from a d16z6 or d16y8 fit into the d16a6 head....i just want to upgrade the valve train if possible, wondering if i have to swap a new head or whole motor in this thing....thanx

Both heads will work but you have to take out the oil jet from the a6 block if you do the swap

just like he said.

Just to temp you, the a6 head can support more radical cam profiles over the VTEC heads. If you plan all-motor as I do, it gives you an option over getting a different head . I have heard....the Vtec cams are a bit harder to tune also. Good luck!
