HKS Sport sounds the best, mine is in the mail as we speak. Can't go wrong with a good custom exhaust and your choice of muffler. I made the mistake of going with 2" piping. Oh god I want to gouge my ears. It was ran beautifully, but its raspy with any muffler.

My ignition module went out and i shot a huge fireball out the back 3 times. Blew up 3 mufflers, so I've been able to try different ones. Each time I'm disappointed.

If you go custom, do 2.5"-3" for the deepest/smoothest tone.

Best premade for our cars are easily HKS Sport or Yonaka. IPG Parts has some nice kits, all besides the HKS require fabrication for catalytic converter.

Just another kick in the bucket. Honestly $800 isn't much money. I spent $700 on new center caps for my MR-5s.

CRX $3k
Good Engine $4-5k
Swap Items $1-2k
Good Clutch $500-$800
Carbon body Parts $1-2k
Rims $1k+
Paint $2k+

What does it mean to be an owner of a EF? It means we buy or want to buy parts that cost more than what we paid for the EF itself.

EF civic, with body kit, spoiler, and twin hood scoops: $1500
B16A Engine swap: $1500
Turbo setup: $2500
Wheels and tires: $400

I got deals on most of my stuff. Like my swap came with an ACT stage 2 or 3, I forget, clutch. My turbo set up is pieced together and includes a traction bar, P28, the tune, ect.

BLUCIVIC was right, thread has been derailed. $800 isn't much money sure, but I'm not going to spend it on a daily driven/project car EF. It's not a question of wealth or if you can afford it, it's realism and sensibility behind deciding on what gives the best value.

Real Investments > Car Parts.

Back on track. There's good pricing on the HKS right now on eBay, but I think I'll be waiting for the Yonaka to at least be in stock before making a decision.

For those reading this thread and are wondering on what parts to use for the "custom" exhaust route, do any members have the part numbers for the Vibrant or Magnaflow mufflers which fit our cars? (ie, have a similar length to stock)

For similar lengths to stock, there are tons. I used a magnaflow muffler and a flow master muffler from Autozone and they both fit without much modification and look very stock.

Sorry about derailing the thread. I'm a cheapo. My whole car is second hand parts, rarely do I dish out enough for brand new stuff.

Back on topic. If I was going for a 2" mandrel bent custom exhaust, definitely look into magnaflow or whomever you like and buy both a muffler and a resonator. It will help with the sound. Then you need to decide if you want a high flow cat, test pipe or stock. I'm deleting mine for personal reasons, but it is entirely up to you and it will definitely affect the sound and performance.
