I got all the interior surfaces of my shell scuffed (scotch-brite) and cleaned up (TSP and simple green). Since lizard skin coating is water based, I had to fix and seal anywhere where bare metal had worn through. (It was really bad around the spare tire bay.) If the lizard skin touches bare metal anywhere, it can rust and give you problems down the road. I've gone through a lot of that green primer on this car.
I also started some masking work. I made cones of duct tape and stuck them in all the screw holes... if you don't, then apparently the lizardskin can cover them, and you end up with a hell of a time finding them again. Also it keeps the threads clear and clean.

In for future updates. Nice to see a rex coming back to life from the brink of oblivion.

Sorry for the lack of updates, photobucket took a huge crap on my account, so I had to create a new one, re-upload all my photos and fix all my broken links. Hopefully my thread will stay up and running for a while.
Anyway, latest update.. I got some lizard skin sprayed on.

Unfortunately when it comes to engine/mechanical I'm about as noob as noob can be. All I know for sure is that its a 5-speed ZC transmission.
There is a number on it if that can tell you anything. L3-1079926

Number doesn't say anything =/
Does your transmission use equal length axles and an intermediate shaft?
That would be the ZC for sure.
Hey? Before you sprayed on the lizard skin (loks GREAT BTW!) did you do any work to the seams?
I've seen people weld them up and even ghetto bondo over them.
Seems like you are after a proper restore though - wondering if you found a product that is like the stock caulking mess they put in there.

Just a small update. Some of the inner panels in the rear cavities were hard to properly coat with the large texture gun I was using, so after the lizardskin was fully cured (it turns dull gray) I reinforced them with a can of heavy duty rubber coating.

how much is the lizard skin? I went to their website and they want a phone call. I am restoring my grandfathers 67 mercury cougar and was contemplating using the lizard skin on it.

I checked my receipts.. my total was 172.74 after shipping for the lizardskin. Mine shipped out of washington as apparently there are no local dealers in montana yet.

Well since spring hit we finally got a warm, sunny weekend up here in montana. I'm planning to do some re-coating, so I took the opportunity to haul the rex out for some underside cleaning.
Some foaming degreaser and a pressure washer blasted the dirt, oil and loose old undercoating off pretty good. More updates soon.
