CRX hatch leak....

CRX hatch leak....
Okay so I don't know if many people have this happened to them or not but the inside of the hatch/ cargo area is leaking rain into the spare tire area....I tired elimating any space or gaps I see on the quarter glass seals but it still leaks...Only thing I haven't done is the weather seals around on the hatch/glass, which I don't think is leaking from...beacuse it seems to drip down from the quarter panel glass from the inside instead you could see the dried water drips....it leaks either way if I drive it in the rain or it just sitting when it rains
Any suggestion as to what it could be? I looked at the top seals strips for the roof top and it looks seamless...what can it be? I'm ready to throw it at an auto/body shop and just pay! to get it fix So help if you can??????

This has happened to almost everyone, in my case it was the stripping on the passenger side on the roof. Peel that back. Apply seal of any kind. Push back down.

Re: (CR91X)
I think I need to quote myself, I'm not sure of how the leak would look to be on the roof top seals but I said:

Re: (Crx Jimmy)
It's not that bad to drill a hole into it...plus I wouldn't drill a hole to it anyways I rather fix it....
Anyways read most of the post...I'll have to re-look and seal some areas and then check to see if I'll leak or not...but anyone has any good step by steps on how to take of the back interior piece of the hatch. Not sure what you would call it but the trim that is under the qarter panel glass and over the rear strut? I believe...quarter trim panel I guess?? I've got no handbook only have the CRX workshop handbook that I downloaded but want something more detail on steps so I don't mess it up...parts are pretty hard to find so don't want to brake anything....thanks if you can...........

to take appart your back plastic,"grab a beer and a philips screw driver". you need to take out the lock box, the back paneling covering your lights. now most of the screws should be exposed to take off the large plastic pieces over the rear tires. becarefull because there is one hidden screw on the inside that you wont see untill you take off the strut cover? and look inside theres a screw in there. then simply pull it off carefully. as for the trim around the windows its self i havent takin mine off but it looks af if they pull off gently. hope this helped.

Re: CRX hatch leak.... (CR91X)
a few possibilities here....
1) the rear washer squiter thing (if you have it, if not ignore)
2) the 2 roof welds under the rubber seals have hairline cracks in them (very common, can happen to any model, silicon them or redo with body filler and paint)
3) bad taillight gasket seal (you can spot this one if you see streaks or dirt coming from the tailights bolts inside the car)
4) also the sunroof drains can get clogged, which can cause all kinds of problems involving water.
some of those may not apply depending on the cars trim level, which you didnt specify.
if you cant figure out where its coming from, try this:
the weathers nice, so remove the rear interior, its just a bunch of plastic pieces mostly held in by philips heads, just go slow and save the screws!
lock yourself inside the rear hatch, and have a sybling/wife/brother/girlfriend/whatever spray the car with a garden hose for 10 minutes all around the car.
youll find your leak.

Re: CRX hatch leak.... (doublethink)
Well I went to re-look the hatch area over and I guess it's most likely:
"the 2 roof welds under the rubber seals have hairline cracks in them (very common, can happen to any model, silicon them or redo with body filler and paint"
Not the welds of the hatch, I think, didn't see any hair lines but towards the corner where the metal trim from the hatch glass rest on I saw hair line cracks so I'll do some kind of spray/paint etc. to it and see what happens...hope it'll it only just that
But as far as the taking of the interior trim I'll try slowly/go easy at it, that's all I can say about it...don't want to rush into it and brake it or crack it...already trying to find the interior a/c trim piece...previous two owners SUCK didn't take too good care of the car/ as well as trying to find some OEM side mirrors to replace the crappy fake spoon side mirrors...so yeah thanks guys....trying to restore it back one thing at a time...thought it's still pretty clean body wise, already 4 people asked if I wanted to sell it....I just say NOPE just got it!
Thanks guys...

had the same problem but now know where leak is coming from on mine its on the corners of the top of hatch where the rear quarter panel meets with the top of body seems that the factory cocking drys out and cracks. Im going to end up doing is take the rear hatch off seal off around hatch and grind all around the upper area use some silocone apply it with a acid bush or what ever and seal metal with primer it should fix the problem? Ill let you know
