I have a cluster for a 4 door Civic, which is the same thing and it takes 4. That's not including any for the indicator lights such as the parking brake, or the 2 on the top that shines down through the orange plastic to light up the needles.

speak of the devil, i took my cluster apart last night since i was bored and cuz i had some red 194 size bulbs to slap into my rex. heres what happened:

90-91 clusters are diff than 88-89 clusters in bulbs. the 88-89 use large bulbs for the gauge lighting basically 194 size, same as turn signal and sidemarkers, about 6 of em i believe. The 90-91 use the small tiny wedge bulbs all around, does anyone know where i can get the tiny wedge bulbs in red?

i want red ones tho, i wonder if i could paint the bulbs? but i think painting them would kill the brightness and im sure the paint would burn off.

i dunno. you know you can just take of the blue plastic nipple..if you can come up w/ a way to make red ones, it should work. red stained glass paint would prolly work too.

The needles arent lit up internally. There are 2 bulbs that shine light down on the needles, making them glow. They are in the hood part of the cluster.

i bought a pair of white LED lights for my clear corners and they are the wedge type. i aked what other colours they make and the guy sayed red, amber, green and i think they make blue as well. it's a japanese company that makes them. if you're interested just say so and i'll go find the box.

those wont work for me, i need even smaller than those wedge bulbs, i already got like 10 red wedge bulbs, but their too big, those are size 194 and their the same bulbs that go in the corners and sidemarkers, but the ones on my cluster are tiny.
