The engine Fired up like a champ last night...
but I did indeed throw a code.....CODE 20
heres the deal JDM B16a in a 1991 california emmision HF CRX
Code 20 (Electrical Load Detector defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor)
any suggestions as to what this could be..... we checked all of the connections and they seem to be good..... thanks

Re: Code 20... WTF !! (crxconnection)
on two of the civic's i have worked on a code 20 means something isn't ground to the engine or body right. Check battery ground that runs to the body then to the engine, if that is good, check the ground from the wiring harness, it connects to either the bracket the start is on or the where the clutch cable mounts to the tranny. But that is what the code 20 means, to much power misdirected. Hope this helps.

i was wondering about something. ive seen people put a larger gauge ground wire in their car, from engine to the body, does this actually help any or is it just for looks?

ok ok I figured it out... B16 ecu's do not send code 20 only the SOHC ecu's do
conclusion I got the wrong ecu with my engine....sucks a phatty but I got a 90 day warranty so it's all good....

Re: Code 20... WTF !! (crxconnection)
that is true, the two vehicle i had it occur on were both sohc vtec using the stock non-odb si ecu with an rpm activator switch. The jdm engine and computers don't use the whole ELD system. Find that pr3 or pw0 ecu and I hope you will be good, does vtec kick in with the wrong ecu in? How else does the car run, just wondering since the pr3 ecus and looking for dohc and the stock is sohc non-vtec. Wish you luck bro.
