Default Brakes acting up...

Ok, I started to notice this about a month ago, but the problem seems to be getting worse over time.

When I'm slowing down to a light, and I ease on the brake pedal to come to a slow stop, the brake pedal slowly makes it's way to the floor... and I come rolling to a stop. The brakes seem to work fine when I'm in gear and slowing down, seems like the pedal only goes to the floor when I idle to a stop.

Anybody else here fix a problem similiar to mine?

I don't seem to be losing any brake fluid anywhere... Any way to test for a bad brake booster?

long standing rule of thumb is that if the pedal sinks to the floor, its leaking; externally or internally. Either the fluid is leaking out or its leaking in the master cylinder.

bad brake booster will cause excessive pedal effort.

yeah i had the same problem and i replaced the master cylinder. brakes work great now.

a way to check your brake booster is to turn your car on with your foot on the pedal with some pressure on it. when the car starts, you should feel the pedal sink a little bit. if it doesnt sink or stays the same, then youre booster needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

the problem you are describing though is deffinetly master cylinder whose seals have had it. another possible cause is loose bleeder screws or a hole in a brake line, but you would be seeing brake fluid leaking everywhere.
