Look at my thread from my signature I have pictures of my type R engine.
You should have a 4 to one header. The head should have the year in one of the circles. And the transmission should be stamped LSD N3E, but the stamp wears off since it is ink.
Inside the CAM looks different, the crank is thicker with the R on it, and the final gear to the transmission is different.
Oh and everything is marked P72 or P73.

Remember guys im only looking for detials on the block, the R mark helps a lot but ive also heard of Gsr engines having p73 stamped on the rods, is there any diffrences between the girdles and i aldo heard that the b18cr has a small oil cooler between the oil filter but then i heard that all b18 vtecs have it also just need some confirmation.

Re: B18cR differences from B18c
b18c = P72
b18cR=p73
The block will be stamped P72 on the back, The crank should be stamped P73 and the pistons should also be stamed P73, the head should be stamped PR-3.

Re: B18cR differences from B18c
Block wise they are the same. By looking at it the only give a way is the pistons should say P73 on the tops. The crank and rods are different as stated above, however if you drop the oil pan both gsr and type r say p72 on the bottom rod caps. The rods have an R on the side and the crank has an R only visible from one side. Most cases the pistons are your best id but clearly not %100

I do believe the the block does have a p72 stamped on it on the back by the transmission.
Here are pictures of my 98 spec JDM. (Hopefully they are all right)

The P72 engine block was used on all GSR, ITR and CTR engines
As pictured above, the easiest way to identify a true ITR engine is pop off the oil pan and look and the crank and rods. Also, the head should be a pr3 with P73 intake manifold. The The bracket where the optional a/c is stamped P73, and all itr has the aluminum engine brace on them that connects the engine to the tranny

Re: B18cR differences from B18c
The AL stiffener is in the picture with the oil pan. It wraps around the oil pan, bolts into the engine and transmission. I don't know if it is causes a different bolt pattern, I think the AL uses the same pattern. The AL is just larger and stronger.
Here are pictures of what others have. It is a clutch dust shield and a none wrapping arm.
Also a picture of just the stiffener.
