Default b16 bogs at WOT

i have a 90 dx hatch with a b16 swap. well had a code for the crank angle sensor and turns out i forgot to switch the tps wires. that fixed the cel. but now when i punch it it bogs and wants to stall at WOT. if i feather the gas itll accelerate. i tried switching the tps wires back and it still does it. swapped out tps, map, 02, checked ignition timing...all good.

i did recently slap on an exhaust i took off my 90 si when i installed a catback. decided to use it so i could pass emissions(which it failed high c02 and hydro carbons) clogged cat maybe???

no CEL? it sounds like its giving too much fuel then the engine should have. does vtec engage? at what rpm range does it bog down at WOT?

Assuming timing is good, and fuel pressure is good, it sounds like a weak ignition system. I had a similar problem when my msd coil went bad on me. As you increase load, the fuel system adds more fuel and a weak ignition system cannot ignite the mixture. Check your ignition system - plugs, wires, distributor cap, coil.

vtec kicks in fine but i have to blip the throttle to get it to rev that high. if i slowly press the gas pedal it will rev up but if i floor it the engine bogs and sputters.

could it be the other way around? ignition good but not enough fuel? ive replaced the fuel filter, fuel press is good but i swiped my injectors from an ls in the junkyard...maybe its a pooped injector

It could be a lack of fuel pressure/volume. How long ago did you swap injectors? If you swapped injectors and then it started bogging - maybe its the injectors? Try your old fuel injectors and see what happens.

To test fuel pressure, you really need to test it under load. Hook up a fuel pressure guage to the fuel rail and duct tape the guage to the windshield. Go for a drive and see if the pressure drops.

well i didnt have injectors to begin with....started from scratch with this build so i just swiped some from the junkyard to get it running. i never noticed the bogging untill i slapped on the exhaust. i drove it up and down my road a few times with just the header and no exhaust... i didnt really ever get on it but it never bogged like it is now

well that eliminates the injectors being the problem i guess....idled down everytime i unhooked one. gotta be the damn timing. ok, the white mark on the crank pulleyis tdc right? maybe the timing light was all f'd up

sounds like the same problem my car has, i think its the fuel pump in mine because if you clamp my return hose off the bogg goes away.. try that and see what ya get.

are you using a chipped ECU? it could be giving it too much fuel at WOT, but it would have to be a lot to make it bog down... and for timing, the white mark is TDC when you align your cams and crank, but when the engine is running, use a timing light to get the ignition timing on the red mark.

Disconnect one plug wire at a time, it should miss fairly bad. If you have good spark you could have a bad cylinder. My A6 motor is doing the same thing.
