well...they'll give you an incedibly shitty ride, not much of a drop, and you'll end up buying good coil overs in a few months when the sleeves crack or the perch gets stuck or busted or when you have to go to the chiropractor how's that?

KYB AGXs (the adjustable ones) are very nice shocks. I would not go with them if I was going the coilover route. Coilovers will most likely blow these shocks out. I know a many people who blew their AGXs out b/c they used GC coilovers (there is more to this story...if you really want to know ask me).

Yeah, DO NOT GET CHEAP COILOVERS! There are a bunch of people on here that would love to smack some sense into you if you bought them. Your back will thank you!

yea i would agree dont waste your money.if you still want to i would say just cut the shiot out of your springs..youll get the same affect and itl save ya the 100bucks and you could even say you have a set of cut overs...

You get what you pay for...Quality comes with a price tag. Otherwise..there would be no difference between a Timex and a Rolex.

KONI"s and ground controls are meant for each other, they have a special set of GC's just for yellows

Please tell me you are not saying this is a bad setup.

I agree! I have Koni Yellows with GCs on my Civic and love the combo

What I am saying is that if you get spring rates that are 50% stiffer than the stock springs and lower your car more than 1.25", the KYB AGXs can prematurely blow out. This is according to KYB directly.

Most GC rates are 300+ in-lb front and 250+ in-lb rear. I think the stock front spring rates on Tegs (not sure what they are for the EF) are 212 in-lb and the rears are like 160-180 in-lb progressive.

So if you get 300F/230R GC spring rates and lower the car no more than 1.25" you'll be fine.

Also, I am not sure how switching the rear springs from a progressive type to a linear type would affect the KYB AGXs. I think the linear might be a more aggressive setup than a progressive spring.

------
If someone knows the spring rates for the EF, please let me know. I am interested in hearing what they are.
------

(there is more to this story...if you really want to know ask me).

I'm asking
Read what I just said above. If you follow those "rules" you'll be fine.

The people that I knew who blew their KYB AGXs were lowered around 2" and had 300+ in-lb front/rear springs on their cars. I know one person who blew out 2 sets of KYB AGXs in a matter of 6 months.

I have GC with the Tokico Blue's. The ride is very good, but keep in mind that I barely have it lowered.

i bought a set of NRG coil overs for $100 and kept the stock shocks just for now... the ride is bouncy as hell if i hit a dip in the road i almost hit my head on the roof... im gona try getting some stiffer shocks and if that doesint work im just gona go buy a set of omnis or GC's...

i would love to have the extra money to dump into a set of tiens but if i run into $1000 anytime soon im getting my car painted

I got some dropzones for my 89 civic si and they weren't bad at all. The ride was good, didn't slam it to the ground, but did go 2.5" in the front and 2" in the back(apporx) and they rode fine, a stiffer than stock of course, but I wasn't bouncing around.

ALSO, MY STOCK SHOCKS WERE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER AND I DIDN'T SLAM IT TO THE GROUND.

Seriously, don't knock it till you've tried it. If you are broke and your other option is cutting the springs, ebay coilovers is the better route. I have springs marked 450/350, and illuminas set at 2/3 - rides great for me (albeit the oem seats are very soft). The important thing to know is that imporper usage is what kills shocks & creates a bad ride. Most people who get ebay coilovers keep their stock shocks and SLAM the car as low as possible. That is exactly NOT what I did. My car is low, but I have more shock travel than most people here with 92+ civics on ground controls.

So far with ~4k miles on the car, one sleeve is cracked. I should have braced the bottom of the sleeves, but I don't care. I was planning on getting GC's later - I wasn't sure if I was going to keep the car. So far it's been a very well-spent $60; used ground controls usually loose that much value when you sell them.

My opinion: if you plan on keeping the car for over a year, save up for the good ****. At the tim it was hard for me to reason getting $300 springs for a car I paid $1300 for.
