Alternator...need more amps
My alternator is going out in my d16a6 and i was wondering where can i get an aftermarket alternator that puts out more amps. Can they rebuild them and make them better. I have a sound system and it's a little much for a stock alternator to charge the optima and 3 capasitor batteries. Thanks

I've never tried it myself, but I've seen several people use the 92-95 Si/Ex alternator. It makes 5 more amps and bolts on/plugs right in...or so I'm told.
There are aftermarket alts that promise to double the amps....but I've read they fail more often.

pick one up off of ebay, i got a 160 amp for $169 shipped. on a d-series the alt will drop right out past the axle. Lucky peopole like me with b-series motors in our EF's have to pull the master cyl (my fav way) or pull a axle.
