Re: 91 CRX rebuild
This is the first time I've drained any of the fluids since I bought it, which was about 2 months ago. I believe the previous owner might have been the nesqwik rabbit

Re: 91 CRX rebuild
Thought I'd finally update my build and show you all what horrors I'm dealing with lol. Just pulled the engine today and started tearing it down. I want to find the person who had this car before me and back hand them in the face for doing such a terrible job on this poor car. At least 50% of the bolts are stripped or cross threaded, and the rest are either missing or the wrong ones.
This sounds like a DSM> lol i think you have a crx dx.. Not HF

Re: 91 CRX rebuild
Here's what I did today. It's crazy how clean my valve train is compared to how dirty everything else is, perhaps a newer head on the original block? After I take the pistons out everything is going to get hot tanked and look sparkling clean

Re: 91 CRX rebuild
Just some more updates, I haven't removed my pistons yet because i need to get a ridge reamer, unless one of you guys knows another way to remove the lip at the top of the chamber. Can I just pull the pistons out through the bottom?
[Edit] Realized the chambers don't go all the way through lol. And I did'nt need a ridge reamer after all

Re: 91 CRX rebuild
Removing the intake valves with custom spring compressor Removing everything from the head went very smoothly except the valve seals were a real pain in the *** to remove for some reason.

Re: 91 CRX rebuild
So I've now dissassembled everything and sent it all to the machine shop to take a nice chemical bath. Does anyone know how to remove the piston wrist pins? The manual says that you have to take it to a shop to remove the rods from the piston. Anyway here are some more pics.

It's almost impossible to remove the endcaps straight off upwards (they get hung up on the studs), I found out that the easiest way was to use a punch on the studs and just tap-a tap-a tap-a. Booyah! they fall right out.

Re: 91 CRX rebuild
Got everything back from the machine shop today for the most part I was very happy with how things turned out except that the outside of the block still looks crappy. I'll just clean it up with steel wool.
