89 CRX ZC Fuel problem, won't start. Code 16
Hello H-T,
I have a 89 CRX with a sohc ZC motor, its automatic and has the carburetor looking intake manifold so I only have one fuel injector. I drove her to work and when I was going to get some lunch, the car wouldn't start and I had to tow it home. It tries to start but doesn't run. I changed the distributor coil pack and it didn't help at all. Then I finally realized that the fuel pump wasn't turning on. I went to the local pick n pull and got a used fuel pump from another crx(90'). I got home and put it on and the fuel pump turned on but the threads were stripped so it leaked like a girl on her period. So then I got mad and took it back off and tried my OLD fuel pump again it now it turned on. Then when I tried it again, it didn't turn on, and after multiple failures of not turning on, it turned on again then off and so on. So I re-wired the fuel pump electrical lines and it worked with my old fuel pump and I had the car's engine running for about 10 minutes and called it a night.
Today after I got home, I thought everything was good so I put the gas tank back up and got it secured, when I tried to start it, the fuel pump wasn't turning on at all. So I tried re-wiring it AGAIN but it failed. I tested the junk yard fuel pump again and it turned on, but after that it stopped.
I looked at the ecu and it was throwing a code 16 which i found online says (fuel injector).
My problem is that if its the fuel injector, would it affect the fuel pump from turning on? Should I try another fuel pump? Maybe my wires from the pump to the ecu are burnt?
Also the other lines that connect the the gas tank into the circle thingy, do I need that? I accidentally broke it off. (Not connected to fuel pump)
Need help!
