88-91 and 92-95 sohc tranny question
will the internals from a 92-95 sohc tranny fit into a 88-91 case?...
if so, what will have to be done to make this happen
thanks

Re: 88-91 and 92-95 sohc tranny question (EGFerio)
dont really know if this helps but, i have a friend with a 93 CX and he made a hybrid tranny. he used his CX case and some of his CX gears and then used some gears and other parts from a 89 SI tranny, works great. hth

i think it does. read this article. because it mentions for an 89-91 you can upgrade to a 92-95 pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel. but the 88 tranny doesn't work.

Re: 88-91 and 92-95 sohc tranny question (thumpu77)
How about if we ask this then:
Is there a 92-95 tranny gearset that is more optimal for the EF's than the Si trans?
Is there a 92-95 tranny gearset that is more optimal for the EF's than the Si trans?
the gear set is the same, everything inside the trannies should swap, only thing that might be different are the differentials, some have diff size bearings supporting them,i forgot which years have what,i think the 89-90s have bigger bearings,91s went smaller but im not sure if they stayed the same for the 92s and ups or if the reverted back to bigger bearings like the 89-90s
