88/89 trans with si gears

88/89 trans with si gears
so my trans housing was cracked and my buddy put my si gears in a l3-1 trans can anyone tell me is this a good thing or a bad thing and if there will be a giant diffrence in how the car will run.

Does anyone know why will it help going up hills since I am a noob when it comes to trans and if there are any advantages besides giving me a better drive up hills.

Ya its done the car is running clean nice acceleration 2000 to about 5000 rpm so far its been running good

I have another question my rpm's stay kind of high between 1200 and 1500 does anyone know what could be the issue it does this at idle.

No, even if your ignition timing is set to FULL ADVANCE it wouldn't raise your idle that high.
Make sure that your throttle cable wasn't adjusted to tightly, it could be holding it partially open.
With the engine running, take off the intake piping and check to see if the plate is slightly open.
If you can't push it closed and hear the idle drop then you need to check iacv, idle adjust, and so on...
Oh and I'm just curious, if this guy put the SAME si gears and the SAME differential with SAME ring gear in another L3 casing, then how did this change his gearing? I've never head of changing cases to obtain lowering gearing ratios....

Okay so I tested the iacv unplugged it and then the rpm needle was bouncing up and down and now that I have been running it for a few days its starts to bounce up and down at idle once in a while doesn't do it all the time I'm gone take the iacv off and clean it ill let you guys know what happens.
