87 crx si...should i buy??? (pics)
It's an 87 Crx Si...i got the guy down to 500.00 bucks...BUT!!! it's got really bad rust behind the two rear wheels and a couple spots under that car that look pretty bad...like they could be going all the way through into the car. The sunroof also has a rust whole on it. The interior couldn't get any better...perfect seats and everything. The wheels are pretty much perfect too. The engine has 160,000 and i'm not sure how good it runs..but it does run fairly good i've been told by a friend.
what do you guys think i should do? buy? do what to it?

Personally, I'm going to have to go against everybody else and say "walk away"... Rust on the floorpans of first gens is death warrant... They will will rust in all four corners of the floorpan, and also on the rear beam where the panhard mount is.... Keep looking dude, you'll be happier in the long run...

Buy it, and sell it for more. Yea thats a hassle with buying and selling cars, but you should be able to get at least 1500 from it. Thats 1000 dollar profit!

if those rust spots are in a critical spot in the rear undercarriage, then the car isn't worth the money. without the support in the back, that car will not handle right and will just collapse in the back. i have seen it. the suspension will come right up through the back too if there is any rust in the upper suspension area. i have seen that too. and for 500 bucks with rust like that, you are getting screwed. i just picked up an 87 with only 135000 miles with only one spot of rust on the underside for 400. get him down to at most 400 and you have a good deal.
