Just picked up a new hatch and I'm not sure what to do with my old one. Sell it or part it out or keep it as a winter beater?

91 std hatch

Pros:
Has a (~50k mile sohc zc motor and si transmission,
walboro 255 installed 0 miles ago

some parts not-yet-installed:
full integra front and rear brakes with all new bearings, bushings and ball joints.
new axles
stainless steel brake lines
skunk2 front and rear strut bar
tein coilovers
si alloys
cluster with tach

Cons:

I crashed it a few months ago and have been slowly trying to get the parts to make it right again.
Still dpfi running the pm9 ecu.
So far it still needs the radiator support , radiator, hood and passenger fender replaced.
There are two very small rust spots starting at the bottom of either wheel arch.
Something with the distributor isn't working, not sure if its the ignition coil, cap or the whole distributor needs to be replaced but it hesitates when you drive it. Other than that the motor runs very strong.

What do you guys think I should do? What do you think I could sell it/part it for?

You will always make more money parting it out but its just a headache with the shipping and having the room to put it.

Default What's the value of my engine?

I've had a engine out of a six speed manual 1988 Civic DX sitting in my garage for a few years now, and am ready to part with it. What I know about it is that it's a 4-banger 1.6L 16 valve. Got 114,106 miles on it. And I'm pretty sure it's a D15B1 SOHC. Obviously it'll need new belts and stuff and cleaned up a bit. God knows what's living in it. But since I'm not familiar with the engine market...

How much is it worth? No modifications on it. Completely stock. The car was totaled when a deer was hit but it didn't do anything to the engine as far as I know.

Input. Ready? GO.

Default Re: What's the value of my engine?

well i sold a d15b2 (no trans) with unknown miles and it had a mpfi swap with it minus the ecu and throttle body. i got 225 for it and then a 5 speed trans with 88k on it for gas to drive and deliver it. so i ended up getting like 250 for it after i paid for my gas. i would say with knowing its lower miles you could get like 150-200 for it if you have it on craigslist for a few months. also the d"15"b1 is a 1.5 litter engine. the number is the size
like b"16" is 1.6 b18 is 1.8 k20 is 2.0 h22 is 2.2 and so on. just for future refrence. ha if everything in your add is write and it looks like you know what you are talking about then you can normally get a little more. like no offence but if i saw someone saying they had a 6 speed 88 civic with a 1.6l d15 i would lowball you thinking you dont know what you are talking about. unless it was a civic wagon then it that case you will probably have to hold onto the trans for a while but its worth more since its 4wd and they can be used to make awd civics. not sure if the d15b1 is from the wagon. if you had a wagon then it is 6 speed and sorry for saying you didnt know what it was. but i thought wagons came with d16a6's. also could be wrong and they could have a dx version of that. but the engine with those miles in my area if you want to sell fast like 100, if you have room to keep and can sit on it for 6 monthsish probably around 200. well i feel like im rambleing now so good luck selling it man

I found another set of OEM fogs in my garage. Theyre for a 90 civic, used but have all the wiring, buttons, brackets and rubber for the bumpers. How much does a full set go for?

I have a pretty rare set of wiring & switches for a retrofit of the OEM Canadian 88-91 Honda Civic Optional Power Windows. Anyone looking for these or know what the market is for them?

Example from the brochure:

Interesting switches, look like the sedan's with the rears blocked off. I'd say about about $60 if you have all the harness. You guys with motors, about $300 depending on condition. Just ball park numbers...

excuse the double post, I also have the top part of a 2 piece FEELs Hondatwincam works exhaust manifold for a b16a.

I contacted feels and they said it would be $675 to have the y-pipe shipped to me. Do you guys think I should buy the y-pipe? have a muffler shop fab something up for me or just sell it as is?

I just saw this thread after making my own so i figured i would just post in here since my new thread would might get moved here. so here ya go,

Im going to buy this crx right around the corner from me for $900, it think i'm getting a really good deal. its 1990 crx dx that has a recent paint job that looks pretty good. The body is straight, meaning no dents and the only rust it has is in the rear quarter panels but its just a few bubbles, nothing crazy! but its an automatic and has hx wheels. but everything else is stock. it does have 216k miles on it but i test drove it and it seemed like it drove good i did not hear any clunking or weird noises. My plans are to drop a more powerful d series engine in and convert it to manual. I'm looking around for a d15b but i haven't found one for sale yet! If you know where i can get one please let me know. I'll even consider a d16z6. Then i wanna work on the suspension and turn it into a auto x car. Any more ideas on what i should do or where to get parts from would be awesome! thank you for taking the time and reading this!

Oh by the way this will be my first crx. I have had an eg hatch, ek hatch, em1, eg coupe, and ef hatch. so i know Hondas pretty well but its been a good 2 years since i have owed on and worked on one so i feel pretty rusty.

First off I'am a noob. A big one.

I'am looking into getting a 1988 Honda Civic Wagovan.

I'am new to Honda's and would like to ask if buying a 1988 Honda civic wagovan be a great start in learning and a great starter car?

The good: 173 K miles tan color paint with brown interior. 1.6 liter 16 valve motor with 5 speed transmission. Car has brand new timing belt. Does not overheat or smoke. Car has Integra GSR wheels with tires more than 75% tread. Brakes work very good. Car has a lot of cargo room.

The bad: Will need a seat cover on drivers seat. Not sure if the AC works. The carpet is a little dirty. Will need registration and inspection. for sale at $1650 with GSR rims( rims on car in the picture) or $1300 with stock 13 inch rims/tires.

Does this model Civic also have "VTec?"

im wondering which gsr rims this person calls them. everyone calls different wheels different names, and usually mix up gsr WHEELS.

there is no way of telling whether or not that car has vtec in your description. 1.6L could be any motor

About 118k orig miles, clean title, 2 owner red 89 civic si for $2300 right out the door?

Body and paint is very good straight. Engine/tranny stock no rebuild, orig paint clear coat good.

Needs basically nothing. Interior all original si. What do you guys think for 2.3k?

Default 1990 CRX Si. More work than it's worth?

I'm thinking of getting my first car, my budget was $2500. This guy is selling a CRX Si with 200, 000KM, it needs a front drivers side ball joint and axle, but I could fix it with my budget. It's all original except for the deck.

TL;DR Cheap CRX Si needs a tiny amount of work. Worth it for $1100?

Sounds like it could easily turn into a project/money pit. You should really hold off and just find a better running/cleaner car that is in your price range.

Just Picked up a 89 Civic Si with 140K miles, salvage title, and a F***ed up rear left 1/4 panel. $1K later and I started stripping the car from all of the "extras" it had on it. It has one of those giant wings, mid wings, HIDs, large intake, full hack job exhaust and a stereo system that cuts in and out. So far I have recovered $50 from selling the mid wing, but I'm still getting rid of stuff/need to replace some of the parts on the car. That, and I also need to change out all the fluids, just changed the oil today, gonna drain and fill up the coolant tomorrow morning as well as put in some seafoam and engine Restorer.
