Hours to replace CRV engine
The 2003 CRV has got close to 300K on the engine and the timing chain broke. I would like to get another low km engine and would like to know the approx hours to remove and install an engine.
The other question I had is whether a problem with the timing chain could potentially cause increase use of oil. I don't see any smoke coming out of the tail pipe and it doesn't seem to get that hot.
Thanks.

It's 11.8 hrs with transfer of parts over to the new engine.
Yeah the timing chain will cause more oil to be use, which will be burnt. The only time you see smoke from the engine is if it's really burning oil, a small amount you will not see, just like coolant.

Thanks. I think the current engine might still be okay then. Prior to the broken timing chain there wasn't even a hint of it burning too much oil.
Is it possible to test the compression of an engine where the timing chain is broken?
