Default filter confusion

I have changed the air filters in the 2002 Honda CRV I am sure, birth engine and cabin filters. I was certain both were rectangular. When getting an oil change recently I was shown two dirty filters, both rectangular. Their price was a bit high. Today I went to Advance Auto and the got a cylindrical flakier to see, and I told them I thought it was flat, that its must nit be 2002. I checked the Vin and is does show 2002 Honda. Now to check the filter I do have to see what I need to change. I thought the oil change guy said they were both motor and cabin filters. Once reason I did not get then was I was not sure they did come out of my car, though it won't hurt to change them.

Default Re: filter confusion

I may Have been confused, my normal state I think. I checked it and it is a cylinder type. When removing the cover the screws holding the cover in place were rusted and had not been turned for a while, way longer than the oil change last week. But the filter actually looks clean all over. The clamp at the front of the cover holding the air hose was not tight. Now, do I get a new filter or not? I know that is for me to answer>

Was the attendant showing me bad filters just to sell them? I know a lot of people have no clue about such stuff, I have a clue anyway.
