Few questions for the lifted CRV's...
So I've been researching online for a few months on different lift options for my '99 CRV and I decided a while ago that it shall be completed this summer... However, through my exhausting searches I have still run upon some unanswered questions:
1) With an OME (1.5in) lift, what is the max tire size I can run without having to cut into the sideskirts or tire wells? (I dont mind hammering) BFG 215/75/15 ATs seem to be the most popular, but they look too skinny IMO. Anyone running 225/75/15's?
2) Why do most people with Cragar wheels go with the +6 offset? I cant seem to find any benefits when combined with the wheel spacers...
Any help would be appreciated!

Well I'd love to hear from anyone with a wheel size other than 215/75/15...

Re: Few questions for the lifted CRV's...
I have a 2001 with the Ironman lift kit (sierraexpeditions.com) and 215/75 General Grabber AT2's. I have no problems rubbing and off road the **** out of the truck. People run Cragars cause they're cheap and durable but they're heavy, you also HAVE to run spacers to clear the calipers up front. I figured I'd do something "fresh" and get 'Merican Racing alloys cause no one's running them. Theres a reason for that...they don't fit. I'm waiting on a set of 15mm spacers and extended wheel studs to get them on. Oh and the wheels are a -6 et and still didn't clear the calipers

There was a guy that was debating it last year on hondasuv.com, but he apparently went with the 215's instead...

i could have got 225,s i wanted 215s. no point in running a huge tire as i see it. the weight and such is what got me. dont want to kill mpg's more than i have to.
i think they dont use the +6 because the wheel itself wont clear brakes, therefore spacer.

Im not too worried about mpgs. I think of my vehicles more as "toys"...
Can someone with 235's comment on the rubbing, maybe? With and without a loaded cab...

Re: Few questions for the lifted CRV's...
Im currently running 235/75/15 on stock suspension and 8mm slip on spacers all around, it only scrapes at 1 tiny spot during a turn but other than that its fine with just me and say a passenger, once i get people in the back then the rear scrapes every bump. i just ordered a set of 2inch lift spacers so hopefully that will fix the rubbing issues

Re: Few questions for the lifted CRV's...
I personally wouldnt go any bigger than 215/75/R15. Even those adversely effect the on road handling enough.
A CR-V is slow enough without adding large tyres. It is noticeable going to 215/75 like I have. I have mine on Alloy wheels rather than heavy steel ones.
The handling is also much worse, I only have Bridgestone Dueler A/T tyres, not mud tyres like some CR-V I see and it now corners pretty poorly at speed. Around town you dont notice too much though

Re: Few questions for the lifted CRV's...
Well before my lift and big tyres I had stock suspension, 205/70 tyres, Cusco front and rear Strut Braces and Ultra Racing 19mm rear sway bar. I could throw it into corners much like a car.
Now there is no chance of that, it still handles ok but you have to slow down a lot more for corners. i.e a corner with a recommended speed of 60kp/h I could take at 100kp/h before, now its about 90kp/h just to be safe, 85kp/h to be comfortable.
The bigger tyres tend to wander around a lot more, probably more due to being A/T tyres rather than H/T tyres I had before but you do notice a difference

Re: Few questions for the lifted CRV's...
Yeah, I'm not worried about handling. Ive already gotten used to the awful body roll anyway so I dont drive it all that hard.
KhmerdudeSiR, what kind/ brand of tires are your 235's? I find it odd that you could fit those with a stock suspension... and how are they in the snow?
And NZ-DB8R, I still just think the 215's look too darn skinny. 225 would be ideal, but apparently no one runs those a CRV... so maybe ill give it a shot.

Re: Few questions for the lifted CRV's...
Im not doubting you. Im just curious as to the brand/ style of tire. In my research, i stumbled upon OSX2k who said when he has 235/75/15's BFG A/T's that his tires literally could not turn without rubbing AND that was with a lift...
