Default Element Overheating

So yesterday I was waiting at an in-and-out drive through when I noticed the heat gauge going up.

I parked the car and let it cool down since I was a couple miles from home I tested to make sure it had water and drove it home.

I started the car and let it run and no overheating. I let it run for about 8 minutes and the passenger fan kicks on but not the drivers side.

Its not overheating so I am not sure if that fan is fine and no reason to kick on.

The fan fuse is good.

Might be unrelated or not. ********

Idle seems high 1800 or so except when in gear. Even after heating up doesn't go down. There is also a sucking sound when I start the car. The car sounds like its gasping for air for two pulses and then settles.

I checked all vacuum lines and couldn't find anything connected.

Cars has 420k miles and not issues except a burnt valve at 350k and minor stuff.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You did not list the year of your Element. Different year Honda cooling fan circuits are not all the same.

I looked in your past posts and it indicates a 2005 Element. You should include the year in future threads to get more accurate/relevant responses.

On a 2005 Element, both cooling fans should run when either: (1) coolant temperature at the radiator fan switch is above 196 degrees ; or (2) A/C is turned on.

This are simple tests. Turning on A/C should make both fans run. Also, the radiator fan switch is located at the bottom of the radiator. If you unplug the switch and jump the harness connector cavity terminals with a wire or small paper clip, then turn the ignition switch to the ON position (car doesn't have to running); both fans should also run strongly.

Thought I had included it in my signature.

Sorry and thanks for the extra effort and looking my past posts. Looks like the fan is bad because only one fan comes on and based on your info its all the same circuit. I ordered the fan.

I got a check engine light on today and it looks like my #2 Oxygen Sensor is bad too. Ordered that too.

I will be back if I still have the issue after Mondays Install....

Thanks again.
