Compression testing a 2000 crv
In truth, you don't really need to disable spark. Yes, it's safer if you do, but if you just make sure the unplugged spark plug wire isn't anywhere near something it can arc to (including yourself), you're good. If you want to disable just the fuel supply, you can pull the fuel pump fuse. A quick google search should show you were that is, or you could check your owner's manual...if it still is (or ever was) in your possession. If you do want to disable both spark and fuel, there's a simple way. Behind your glove box you'll find something called the "main relay". This item is actually a common fail point in Hondas of the 90's. Its job is to enable both fuel and spark, so when it dies you'll get a no-start condition in which you'll lack both fuel and spark. That tends to be a dead give-away that the relay has failed. Usually with a no-start condition you'll only lose one of the two. Anyway, if you unplug this relay you'll disable both fuel and spark in one swell foop. Good luck!
